Rick
I wish I had something like this for my vafc-ii and valentine
Wouldn't it make more sense to do something like VAFC-II and Valentine 1? I am sure there aren't too many people willing to go out and buy a $700-1000 unit. But many have VAFC so you would probably make a larger profit.

Here's an update and some photos of early production work. First, as should be obvious, I'm way behind. I was sick in bed with a really bad case of the flu for nearly two weeks, and as soon as I recovered, I started traveling.
I have been able to make some rough molds in carbon fiber of both the Nuvi and the 2720 (which is exactly the same size and shape as all the advanced Garmin units). Some photos of this early work are posted below.
First, the two units covered with mold release sheet. (Those blue bumps on the side will allow a space for a finger to reach the on/off switches on both units)

Second, the two units in the vacuum bag, after they've been covered with cargin fiber and coated with resin.

Third. the two units out of the vacuum bag. The molds are very rough and will require a lot of hand work for trimming and finish, and that's my next step. The don't lool like much now, but that's hte nature of the hand-layup process.

More updates will follow.

Rick, will you be making the Nuvi mount available for RHD cars?
Thanks
Thanks
So if things go well, roughly how long after might we expect it?
I can tell you that it would be an absolutely MASSIVE hit over here as the Nuvi is a very competitively priced unit in the UK!

Hi Rick,
I have a Garmin 2730. Does your prototype using the Garmin 2720 as the model take into account the 3.5mm line out jack on the left of the 2730, as well as the extra connection on the rear of the 2730 for the XM receiver connection?
Can't wait the the final product....I currently have wires everywhere on my dashboard

I would think many more people have VAFC than an $800 navi system....
