jesus I was interested in the nuvi until I saw the price. $969.22 msrp.
On line the nuvi can be had cheaper - much cheaper. Starting at about $700.

I've seen one on display at the local Fry's here. It's REALLY nice and thin. I've had a Garmin GPS and the company is great on support w/new firmware, so I'm pretty sure the problems will be sorted out soon enough.

I expect to have the prototypes for both the Nuvi and standard housing ready just after the holidays. I had to buy some additional equipment for shaping the foam from which the molds for the housings are formed, and it all arrived a few days ago.

I can't wait to see what you've come up with.

For now, only the Nuvi and 2610, 2620, 2650, 2660, 2720, and 2730 are in our plans. That's more than enough for a mod that's only in the protoyping stage!

In fact I have a Nuvi and 2720 on the way from Garmin to use in building the molds for the prototypes, Right now plans call for completion of the prototypes for display and photos at Zippy's annual mid-winter gathering in New Jersey on January 14. paulieblks2k has agreed to offer his car as the test bed for the prototypes, so if all goes well, we'll have them installed in his car in time for everyone to see and photograph at Zippy's event.

Don't forget the new Garmin I5. It's a little smaller than a baseball. Very cool!

great design, but does it interfere with the sight? Awsome idea.... if everything pans out for production... I'd get one of these in a hearbeat

Since the Garmins will not extend below the roof rail line of sight, it will only be a problem if the stock roof rail blocks your line of sight -- I suppose that may be the case for very tall people, but they probably can't fit into the car anyway.
