so let me get this straight.. you gain a a litle power in the midrange but lose a litle at the top end?? im comparing the stock peak power of 194hp vs the ricks peak which is 191hp according to that dyno. am i right?
Acutally the car used was mine. It has never dyno'ed as high as it did for this test. I think I can find an older sheet that we did a few years back. But again, we where not after peak, since most drivers can't realy use it anyway. I know it is hard to see, but the Air/Fuel ratio was very rich up at the top end, so as the power was trailing off, the air/fuel was getting richer. Some of that can be the fact that this was a back to back (see time stamps) and the ECU did not get a chance to adjust for the newly installed header. I mean we dropped the old one off, bolted the new one on and dyno'ed it. Our ECU learns over time, and we gave it no time to adjust.

Also some others commented that with a VAFC or E-Manage, the fuel could be trimed to gain additional point. But our whole point of this dyno was to show inprovements, or the design hit the can.

Thanks

If that midrange horsepower improvement is real, that's enough to make the header worth it to me. I'd much rather have the fatter torque in the midrange than the slightly improved power peak with the OEM setup. In this set of dyno runs Rick's header is making more power during a larger part of the power curve compared to OEM, and that pays off big in terms of acceleration and speed on the track.

Hmmm, well when flogging the car you're above 7.5k pretty much...so the stock header reigns supreme there. However, I could definintely see this as a useful item for someone who road races.

The stock header is a great design!
