RM Racing Exhaust System
#1
Anyone have the RM Racing Exhaust system for their car? I see that it seems to be the one with the best price. It is certainly cheaper than the Mugen, Comptech and HKS systems. However, I haven't heard of anyone who has the system on their car. It sure sounds nice, according to the downloadable video clip on their site. Sounds fast, but does it go fast? Anyone?

There has been a lot of discussion concerning exhaust systems, but only a few objective dyno tests. When all is sorted out there seems to be little power gain available, so the attraction of the aftermarket exhaust seems to be 1) sound, 2) look, 3) reduced weight.
Early on there were some negative rumors concerning the RM system but they have since redesigned it. The people on the board that have it seem to be happy with it.
The single pipe systems that are very loud have the best weight savings and claim to have some power gain.
The Mugen exhaust with titanium mufflers is the most expensive and is a nicely done piece. It is the lightest dual system.
The HKS system has been most popular on the board because of a nicely tuned sound, good look, and reasonable price.
This is an area with more words of opinion than fact.

Neuspeed also makes one that is less than any of the others. Normal price is around $700, last weekend they had a sale and it was around $560. This is for an all SS system with polished mufflers. It weighs 35 pounds compared to the stock system at 50 pounds.

Warpspeed,
Is the Comptech exhaust loader than stock and more "throaty"? I was going to get the Comptech exhaust when I order their supercharger... How is the build-quality of the system?
Thanks

Shaner, it's definitely throaty, and it's just a sweet purrr at speeds above 70mph. Many times after I first got it(and still today) I'll have the top down, stereo off and just be cruising to that purrr, it's the best! I'll tell you this though, it's very quite at idle and a big surprise to those who "want to race to the next light"! The quality is excellent. It weighs about 8lbs less than stock.
I am anxious to meet someome with the HKS system to compare. I really want to hear it.
