RUMOUR: S2200
Rumor or not, I'd never just assume a manufacturer would stick to the original intent on anything. They reserve the right to reposition their products for whatever they want to do.
So, saying the S2000 is 2 or 4 year production is just guessing. Tomorrow Honda could decide to make it a standard part of the product line for the foreseeable future...even if they were quoted somewhere as saying its a 2 year run. That doesn't mean someone can't change their mind.
Hey, if a S2200 comes out, I'd trade up. Its as easy as that. The cool part would be that you wouldn't sit on a waiting list wishing you had a cool car...you'd have one (the S2000) and just drive it around until your S2200 came in.
Wow- could you imagine if Honda made a 2.2 liter S2000 with all the fixes we've complained about? Glass rear window, more low end torque, stronger differential, slightly more responsive clutch, a little more leather on the interior-better carpet, a self retracting hard boot cover, standard X Brace, and the new TypeV steering. Now THERE would be waiting list to be on...

I meant about speculatory ideas on production/colors/glass rear window...the horse is dead already, besides, what do you care? If you can't say something good, why say anything at all? Doesn't seem to me that your post did anything but take up space, like this one. Save it.

Well, I have my own sources, and here's the true scoop. The MY2002 will have a supercharged V8 (from the Landcruiser), a switchable dual rear-end for low end torque (will do the 1/4 in the low 4's) and high end (for a top speed of 269 MPH),a 37 speed tranny, will be single passenger, plexiglass canopy, (no more plastic rear window problems) and best of all there will only be 100 made. The sticker will be $37,365, but dealers will be marking them up to $468,000 each. Last, I hear they are all spoken for. They will be out of production after these are made.

So all you smarty pants, if the S500 was bumped in capacity by 20% (from 500 to 600cc) why wouldn't Honda be consistent and bump the S2000 by the same percentage to a 2.4 litre instead of 2.2??
As I posted a while back - I'm waiting for the S800 equivalent upgrade - to 3.2 litres! - with chain drive of course to put to bed all those diff problems people have been having

By increasing the displacement of the motor, components get slightlt heavier. When that occurs, the redline drops to keep the motor from failing. Unless Honda can make the new components lighter then the current ones, the redline will be lower. That would be a huge expense to redesign the engine on a low production car. Especially if you factor in a larger engine produces more heat so the cooling system may have to be enlarged. Is the current grill opening large enough for the new cooling system. Will it upset the weight distribution. It's not as easy as adding a big bore kit to a block.
