um yeah... point is the fuel guage isnt very accurate.
Its accurate enough to tell you when there is gas in the tank or not. You're paying for the same amount of gas eventually anyways, why try and push it to the very last drop? Running below a 1/4 tank of gas is a bad idea for many reasons, including running out of gas and overheating your fuel pump. The pump is cooled by being bathed with gasoline, but when the level begins to go low the pump will no longer be submerged and will run hotter.

I could be wrong but i believe that there isn't really a gas gauge untill your almost out. Doesn't this car calculate how 'you drive': your RPM, and throttle to give you your reading. I know it's not solely on that and there is some sort of gauge but it's not a particularly accurate one.

I ran out of gas once in my VW Corrado.. I just assumed that it had a gas warning light, as did almost every car that came out at that time.. unfortunatly, VW's idea of a warning was just studdering and coming to a stop... luckily i was able to roll into a gas station... except for the last 5 meters cause some clown wouldn't get out of my way... had to push the rest.. but it coulda been worse..

I noticed on my S2000 that the light comes on with about 2 bars.. but those 2 bars go away REAL fast.... weird...

they need to put something that will chime... like my old audi would "ding" then flash the Gas pump signal on the center of the dash.

I have noticed that when your down to 5 bars on the meter it goes down fast!!! with 0 bars on the meter your good for 10 miles. i have driven 10 miles and i don't want to go any farther.

full tank 288miles. 10 of those miles is with 0 on the meter.

actually, i still disagree. if its fluctuating between zero bars and two, its not telling me anything.

at this point it seems like a matter of difference of opinion and behavior that i dont intend on changing or convince anyone else. so i'll just leave this thread alone and you can save the lectures on honda reliability.

I haven't yet, ever, with any car, but it'll happen soon. I never notice when the light comes on. Twice now, I've looked down and seen the gage on 0, no lights. Both times I made it to a gas station, but my days are numbered. My last car had an audible warning that you couldn't miss at 40 miles to empty. So I'm not used to this.

Has anyone installed a gas beeper? Kinda like a shift beeper? Is it safe to drive with a gas can it the truck? Who's run out of gas?
If you can't bring yourself to check on the gas gauge meter periodically without some kind of audible reminder, then maybe you shouldn't be driving at all.

It's really not that hard.

Thats it! Good thing you're here, this has really helped. I'll just start taking the bus. Think of all those car payments I'll save. Do you just like watching yourself type or something? Did you giggle as you typed it?

Hey I could have made it a poll

And of course, no one made you read it. The subject was certainly clear so go bother someone else kid
I didn't say it would win, only that is should be nominated. Which I am told is an honor by itself.

BTW -- No one has called me "kid" in a LONG time.
