??'s about Honda rear spoiler install.
Installed the rear spoiler this weekend. Very easy, but I did not change the trunk springs as the directions indidcated you need a special tool. Any one find a way to do this without the tool? I'm sure I could get the dealers sevice dept to do it for a fee, but the trunk seems to work fine with the standard springs. If it is a real pain to do, then I may wait until the car needs it's first service and have the dealer do it then. Any suggestions appreciated.

I guess the reason you're supposed to adjust the spring tension is to ensure the trunk lid opens consistently at the same speed and to its full extend. The extra weight of the spoiler will probably make a slight difference. I'd have the dealer do the adjustment at the next service. It'll probably be only 10 minutes labor time.
BTW. After you unlock the trunk, is it supposed to raise automatically to the full open position, or do you have to partially lift it before it moves by itself? Mine came with the spoiler, and after unlocking, it only pops open a couple of inches. I'm not sure if that's right.

Thanks for the info, I'll wait till my first service and have it done then. It does not seem to affect the trunk operation at all. My trunk only opened part of the way prior to putting the spoiler on, and it seems to operate basically the same way with the spoiler, so I do not know if the springs really make that much of a difference. I'll probably have the dealer change them anyway, just so it will be right.
