S2000 OR AUDI TT.....That is the question.....
Ok, I read all the replies to this note and...... I am having a problem understanding why I was reading them in the 1st place. If you want a VW buy a new Beetle it is better looking and half the price....
"I don't know what VTEC means, but I do know 44 inches of leg room."
'nuff said.
PS: At 6'2" I just couldn't fit comfortably into a Z3, TT or Boxster. That might be a consideration for your friend as well.

Was in a similar dilemma and I decided to go with the S. Here are my biased findings on my test drives and research:
Audi TT Win's
IMO the interior is the best of any roadster.
AWD Drivetrain - great for all weather driving (I live in Utah). My limited research also indicated that the TT drivetrain was rated more reliable under stress.
Turbo! - i.e. reasonably priced performance mods that actually do something significant ()
Snob appeal
S2K Win's
9K RPM redline - love the feel/sound/experience
Transmission - after shifting the s2k 6 speed, nothing else feels "short throw"
Handling - gotta love the s2k here (except in rain/snow of course)!
Exterior styling - I felt the s2k's styling would "last" so to speak. I think the lines are cleaner and more subtle than the "tear drop" thing. Purely subjective, although I definitely get more looks in my s than when driving my buddies TT (fewer s2ks around here).
Just my 2 cents

Considered a TT myself (225 hp, I'm assuming, as it's the only one worth considering), & both are great cars in their own right - in convertible form, tho, the TT just doesn't look that good to me, and is quite heavy and none-too-fast. Tho the 225 is 4wd, I believe the rear wheels only kick in if slippage is detected (correct me if i'm wrong here, car-folks); hence, it's basically a front wheel drive car, with commensurate handling. Interior is exquisite in the TT for sure, with great stereo and a cushy ride. Hard to see the hood, tho, and handling isn't as quick (also, sluggish til the turbo kicks in after 2500rpm). The S2K is a true sports car & I would echo the other recommendations to read the reviews, then drive each & decide. Reviews alone can probably make the decision, though!
Having driven a Honda Civic since 1993, my next purchase would have been my first new car since then. I loved everything about my car - great mileage, cute, easy to drive, and I has taken me 135,000 miles with no problems to date.
When it came to purchasing a new car, I was 99% sure I didn't want another Honda (wanted to make a change to a European car) - and I really really loved the TT. You can ask anyone in my family, or my friends, what kind of car does she want, and they all knew it was the TT.
I happened into a Honda dealership a few months ago since it was next door to the Audi dealership and just decided to take a peek at what they had. And that's when it hit me . . I saw it . . from across the room . . calling to me . . buy me . . buy me. A 2002 Berlina Black beauty.
But I had wanted the TT for so long that I refused to believe that I could be swayed so easily - just from a look?!? I loved the way the car felt, loved the way it looked, and everyone knows you can't go wrong with a Honda (for the most part).
To make sure this wasn't just a temporary infatuation, I test drove both cars. I waited a few days - great if you have the luxury to do this - and then I test drove them again just to be sure.
After realizing that it's made by the same folks who make the Passat, I felt I would be paying too much for the car. Plus, I had a harder time driving the TT - I felt like I was buried in it. I like the luxury of the TT as well, but I'll get an A4 for the luxury when I decide that's the way I want to go.
To me, the S is luxurious in its own way. I love driving it around, love knowing that it's in my garage, and it's MINE. - Oh yeah, I do share with my husband once in awhile, LOL.
Good luck in your choice, but the S2000 definitely gets a vote from me!
