S2000 as a daily driver??
Mine is my daily driver. 25km each-way, each day, thru stop and go traffic.
Although weather here permits top-down driving all year round, in summer I now drive to work with the top up so:
a) I can bask in the aircon
b) Not get burned by the summer sun
c) Hear the radio
Driving home it is dusk or night-time and I go all the way with the top down.
I find the night-time drives the most relaxing and a great way to unwind after the day at work.
Driving to work in winter it is ok with the top down since the sun is not a problem and I can turn on the heat to keep comfortable.
I have another car for days when I must take large items, or passewngers.
For practical reasons I dont think I could have this car if I could only have one car.

the S is a bit harsh in ride and loud at first, but you get used to it. whether it is a good daily driver for you will depend on the conditions of the roads that you normally drive through, as well as how often you drive others around. i work in san francisco, and the streets are just horrible. also, i tend to get a bit embarrassed when i drive others around cuz the ride is just too harsh. fortunately, the S is more or less a good daily driver for me cuz, i drive alone most of the time (when i have to ride with others, i always insist that he/she drives his/her car). at first i missed the rear seats and trunk space, but now i realize it's THE perfect car for me, cuz the rear seats almost never get occupied, plus the smaller trunk space means items will not fly all over the place when i drive spiritedly, which is pretty much daily. (in my previous car, i had to compartmentalize my trunk with boxes, to keep things from shifting around.) like other's said, it's good to have a second car even if it's a beater $2000 civic hatchback, cuz you really can't haul anything with the S.
22speed ....... you're out in Arizona and you'd probably use the air conditioning more then most. A convertible will not cool down the way a hardtop will, so the ride might be more uncomfortable. The S2000 is a great car and does put a big
on your face. My winter car is an Accord, fwd handles the snow and ice better. As for the 350Z vs G35, you're going to see Zs everywhere. I have sat in both the G35 and 350Z at a recent auto show and the G35 'feels' more like the S2000. Everything is in the right spot. Plus, the G35 coupe looks better than the Z.
I think the S2000 will go down in automotive history as a "cult car", a car for the true sports car enthusiast !

Daily year round driver here. No complaints at all. The car is a great commuter, fun, decent mileage, and yes, practical! I have to carry a laptop to work, what more would a sedan do for me? Hell, I've even taken it to the slopes! As for winter, tires make more difference than which set of wheels you're turning. The only car I've owned that was better in the snow than my S (shod w/ Pilot Alpines) was my Nissan 4x4 truck. So don't worry about it being RWD, a vast majority of people drove RWD cars for damn near 80 years before FWD became popular. They seemed to get along just fine. Viva la RWD!!
I have a Jag (XJ6) as my "winter beater" and I still take the S2K when "it's only raining a little" or "it's supposed to get over 32F today, so I'll go ahead and take the S2K".
I am by NO means parking it mostly through the winter as I intended. I am putting way too many miles on the S2K and LOVE IT as a daily driver around town.

The S is my one and only car. Rain or snow. Besides not being able to attach skis or snowboards, it hasn't given me any trouble I couldn't get around. 2 miles each way local roads to work, 30 miles each way highway to school. No problems.
Daily driver for me.
I have no issues driving this car every day. I also drive it in winter. The transmission is so smooth that shifting in this car is actually quite fun, and I never grow tired of it.
I purchased the inner-liner for my top, and I found it really helped with road noise on the highway. I also dropped in a second set of speakers and now when I'm on the highway this car is no worse than anything else I've owned.
The car DOES have a very stiff ride though. If you don't like feeling the road, you're going to want to do that Infiniti.

Test drive one. You'll feel the meaning of SPD, SPM and Perma-grin.
