The S is by far the Best 2nd car money can buy.
I couldn't agree more. My 91 Accord is my daily driver. I just can't ever see myself driving the S on a daily basis. At least not for another few months(years) until the newness factor wears off. Don't get me wrong though. I love the S and would like to drive it on a daily basis; however, I don't want it looking like my Accord does now after five years...which isn't too good.

Koala,

What inner liner for the roof are you speaking of? Is this for the soft top or the hard top? I'm getting the hard top. Has anybody seen it? Is it lined inside?

Its a cloth liner for the soft top. I purchased it used off of "Coral Doc" - It's rather expensive new.

I can't even honestly remember who makes it.

I wouldn't buy a hardtop for this car. I just think it kind of defeats the purpose. I could see it being a positive thing to have in the winter, when your top isn't coming down, but I'd never have it on in any potential top-down weather.

Well, I really like the look of the car with the hard top. It changes the car totally and hardly anybody down here has one. I can see myself using it sometimes. The dealer told me he would sell it to me at $1,800 if I buy the car, so I'll probably get it at that price. I dont think Ive seen it cheaper.

I drive mine to work damn near everyday. 30 minutes each way in city traffic.

No problems. It is a bit louder than normal cars inside with the top up but it is much quieter than other convertibles I have been in.

I think I should point out... Honda did a great job with this top. It fits perfect, it doesn't flap or anything, it doesn't leak when it rains (I do live in Seattle) the frame for it is ultra stiff and doesn't feel like it is going to fall apart (sorry miata owners)

But if it is raining or below 37 degrees then the top is down anyway. With the top down this is the best daily driver ever.

Daily driver here. Yeah, sometimes it is loud. Not much storage but so far the only thing I had trouble hauling was a new 19" monitor in its box. Not really enough storage for a vacation weekend for two (she packs heavy). Seems to me I have to be 'up for it' in a similar way to riding a motorcycle (my other commute vehicle), but the truth is you can drive like a lazy slug-in-a-Civic if you want to.

My S is my only car and over 70% of my driving is on the highway - total of 15k miles so far in 6 or 7 months. When I run into some real rough roads, I get uncomfortable, but I haven't run into too many of those and usually for only a few miles at a time. Also, when it gets under about 60 degrees, I start to get chilly after about an hour in the car with the top down going about 80. I can take 32 degrees for about a half hour - probably if I had some cold weather gear I could go farther, but somebody mentioned the cramped space with a lot of clothes on, and I agree, so I'd rather just put the top up. I couldn't imagine having a hard top and not being to drop the top whenever.

I have found that I really like back roads better than the interstate. The speeds are less and so I don't get cold as easily. It is kind of like a different world out there with the top down. I can see why people like bikes so much. I feel a part of the scenery and love the varied smells. I am seeing so much more. Saw a deer beside the road the other night and was just hoping that she wouldn't end up in the cockpit with me. And then I saw another one 20 miles down the road. Lots of times, the back roads save some miles so the difference in times aren't too much.

I traded the comfort of an MDX with Navigation, etc for the S and will never go back. But I am thinking of adding a nav system.

Happy decisions.

I think it sucks as a daily driver, but makes a near unbeatable weekend/play toy. It's just too noisy, cramped, and impractical to be ideal for daily driver status, though it's reliable and economical enough to do so if you're willing to live w/ it.

I'd prefer a 350Z, G35C, or RX8 as an only car.

The S2000 would make the perfect "daily driver" for a climate like Arizona, especially if you have access to a a "beater" like a truck to carry large objects when you need the space. The hardtop is a great option as it gives the car a whole differant look. Any of your choices should give you a nice ride.

My S is also my daily driver. I drive it in the sun, in the rain, in the summer, in the winter, year-round. It is true that when traffic gets congested, the S drives like a Civic, but I never notice the engine noise when I am going slow. When the roads open up, you'll have a lot of fun in the car. The thing is that the S is not only a good daily driver, it is also a fun weekend car -- two cars in one

Not to pick on AVX, but I've never understood the advantage of having "power seats" for a one-driver car. I can understand having power seats (with memory) for a car that is shared among multiple drivers, but when you own a car like the S, the Z (both versions), or even the G35 as a daily driver, how often would you hand the keys over to somebody else to drive? I have not moved the seats in my S since the day I took it home, so having power seats doesn't make any difference to me.
