s2000 as a daily driver and the competition
nice well i drove mine from fresno to az and my buddy 6 3 230lbs said that he would borrow my car for long rides cause he felt so comfterable. more comfterable than hes g35, and also loved the fact that it gt hot so the top went down, once i let him drive he loved it more that he want to trade cars!=)
The S2000 as a daily driver depends on your needs. For some it suits just fine.
For those who have to carry more than one passenger at times, or items larger than a bag or groceries or a duffle bag...it will get annoying fast. Personally I could not live with an S2000 as my only car.

I DD mine. Put on 32k miles the first year I had it and never looked back. Yes, it eats tires (i'm going through about 3 sets of fronts and 4 sets of rears a year). I've driven from Atlanta to Houston (about 14 hours) several times to visit my parents and I have no problem getting out of the car refreshed, though if the top is down that entire time, it starts to wear on you.
I find the size of the trunk adequate, I've taken mine camping with the GF a few times and we can fit the cooler, tent, sleeping bags, clothes, and all my camera gear in the gear just fine, thought you have to get creative and figure out what will fit under the seats, in the rear tray with the top up, and behind the seats.
In stop and go traffic it's just as much fun as any other manual transmission car (not very).
The only thing I wish was that the gas tank was a little larger. I get just over 300 miles to a tank on road trips and often wish I could go for a little longer without having to fill up.
It's a lot cheaper to maintain than other sports cars (minus the miata) and I'm not worried about racking up miles so long as I maintain it properly. I've seen many s's with over 200k miles on them.
However, as soon as I get my company car in December, my S will become my track slut and won't be my DD anymore. Not out of choice, but due to necessity from the job. Hopefully I will be able to get a new Taurus SHO or Chevrolet brings back the Pontiac G8 GT/GXP with a Chevy badge.

I have just recently graduated from college and currently working at a good job and have decided that its time to get a new car. I has always been a honda fan and my first instinct was to get an s2000. The only problem is that I'm 6'3" and will be using the car as my daily driver. After test driving the car I am unsure about being able to daily drive for a 30min commute even with lower seat rails. I just wanted to hear from some taller owners about there long term ownership and people using it as a DD. The other cars on my list are the EvoX, 370z, g37s, e46 M3 and c6 corvette. As you can see the list is kinda all over the place but each car has its strengths.
Thanks for all the help and advice

I'm still searching, 2002 - 2005 since 2002 - 2001 had plastic rear windows.
I'm between 6'3 and 6'4 and dd my car. I love it. I drive a 350z quite often as well, its a family members car, and the only reason the z series would be better for dd purposes is it has more storage space. My ap1 has only the center glovebox, while the 350 has the nav compartment, center console storage, and glovebox behind the passenger seat. I cant speak for the 370, but its something to keep in mind. But nothing beats dropping the top in the S and running it to 9k after a day at work.
6 foot, 180lbs. My wife and I go all over on the weekends. I think in the first 6 months we racked up 10k - we were that excited. The amount has dropped since but I see no reason why this wouldn't work for you.
I'd tell you there are bigger cockpits. The S is like a bloody f16. Everything tight and within elbow reach (joking).
As others have said, this car is for the driver, not the commuter. You will give up good coffee cup holders*, stereo and road noise for the ultimate roadster.
*yes, on paper it has them. In the real world it's best use only for a cell phone and wallet. Drinks should be held by your passenger and provided to you on request. This same passenger should also be calling out up coming turns, degree and banks. Would be nice if they were only police look out too.
Buy and enjoy.

The s2k is a fine DD for me as far as space, comfort, or gas mileage.
The (relative) lack of torque is what frustrates me. I mean if you're used to DD'ing a Civic, which for most would be a fine DD, then it's no problem. The S feels like a Civic below 6k anyway.
But if you have been corrupted by power/torque in any other vehicle, having no torque at the lower revs where most of DD'ing is done can feel cumbersome.
My idea of a great DD? Something comfy, good amount of space, great gas mileage, and lots of low end grunt.....something like a Golf TDI.
