I always wonder where people use all this tq in stop and go traffic. I've never found a need for it.

Can you enlighten me?
there are many things we don't need, but are nice to have. you don't need an S to commute; hell, I'm sure we can all get by with a 3 cyl Geo Metro. That doesn't make the Metro a pleasant commuting experience.

example: say i'm in the left lane, and need to make a right at the next light. it'd be nice to not have to wind the piss out of my motor in vtec just to get in front of the Sienna minivan in the right lane.

Just as good brakes can get you out of potentialy hairy situations, one can argue the same for the ability to accelerate briskly.

Ok... but most commuter cars cant even do what the S does in low RPMs... my mos 04 civic is slower than my S even if I shift at 5.5k

Like I said earlier, it's relative. In fact, a Civic was precisely the example I mentioned to illustrate this. If you're used to DD'ing a Civic, then the "relative lack of torque" of the S shouldn't frustrate you, because, relatively, it doesn't lack torque.

For others who are used to commuting with more torque, let's say a 335d for example, the S can be frustrating. That's just my experience of course. I like torque. YMMV.

6'0" 190lbs, DD. I don't have a very far commute (15 mins each way) but it has been a great DD so far. Yes, the cup holders suck, but my other car 1988 BMW 325ix doesn't even have cup holders, so I personally don't have a problem with them.

In my first month of owning my S2k, I have put on over 2,000 miles on it, and it has been great for long trips. I miss having my AUX output right there on the radio, but you can change that.
