I was at Crown Honda in Chapel Hill, NC visiting a friend. I obsevered an S2K having its engine replaced after being damaged. Appearently the owner had something hit and broke the drain plug loose from the radiator and the cooling system lost all the fluid. From what I could gather, they continued to drive out of necessity and destroyed the engine.

Dealer Cost for engine ~$7500.00
Complete Repair: ~$11,500.00

FWIW: 4 new replacement engines are availible in Atlanta, GA at the time of this post.

How does that break down?

I know there is no part number for "new engine," only "short block" (bottom including cylinders, pistons, crank shaft, etc.) and what ever the top half is called which includes cylinder heads and valves.

When you say they have "four engines," what do you mean? Do you mean four short blocks?
