Default S2000 Gas Smell. Gas Cap?

Hey guys. Sometimes when I drive after filling gas, I smell a strong fuel / gas smell. I check the cap, and its loose. I always tighten it 3-10 clicks, but it always comes loose. No check engine light. 2002 S2000. I heard theres a TSB. Will replacing the gas cap fix this?

Look in the library for the TSB. You may need a new filler tube between the fender and fuel tank.

I know what the TSB code is. I asked Honda, they said its been too long and I would need a record of like maintenance from a Honda dealership.

A tsb isn't a recall. Its never meant to be done free. Its just meant to be a guide for dealer to know what to do to solve an issue.

Sometimes if you have a really good relationship with a dealer (you spend lots of money there), they might do it free or cheaply.

Meanwhile, you can diy a tsb. Just buy the parts. Just read it to see if it's really you're problem first.

Also, don't top off when filling up. Stop at the first click. That goes for all cars. Its a bad idea.

The TSB is here in this forum. No dealer needs to be involved other than ordering the parts you need. Or are you thinking this is somehow a warranty issue.

My car used to smell pretty strongly of gas after a good drive, and this was remedied with a new gas cap for about $20. I would give that a try first.

I did the same. Then, I put the original cap back on about 6 months ago and haven't had the issue again. Go figure!!
