I agree with all you saying that Insurance is a scam, bitch, etc... Im in the market for an S2000 but yesterday after going to a dealer to look at one, the deal did not work out. On the way out I just went to the Mazda dealer next door for fun. Well to make a story short I decided to give myself a nice brand spanking new 04' RX-8 fully loaded, the payments were going to be right around what I was looking for and well everything was just perfect until I had to call for insurance quotes, oh man I felt like killing someone First Geico wanted $2,800 6/month. so I decided to call Progressive but they said $3,100, I was already outraged so I called Geico back to work something out but the lowest they went was $2,500. Sadly I didn't get my new car but I guess things happen for a reason and the S2000 is my destiny . Well I got home I made a new quote for an 03 S2K Im planning to buy and it was a lot better $1,800. I dont get it but then again they are A$$HOLES. Insurance is just the Biggest SCAM ever.

If you are wondering, my record is extra clean.

I recently purchaced my S2K and have found that the insurance rating number went up three points this year. Previously I owned a 00 Prelude with a insurance number of 21. This is on a scale of 1 - 30 for those that are unfamiliar. I was quoted for the S2K about 4-5 months ago when I started looking. At that time the S2K was a 19! Less that a Prelude! This year it went up to a 22. So...higher the number higher our cost. This is based on my 2001. It will be a higher number of you have a newer S2K from what I can remember. So at 25yrs old and no violations, I pay about $1800 / year. Kinda pricey but not to bad considering what everyone else seems to be paying.

Just FWIW, I checked on insurance for the S2k I'm considering picking up today, and the increase in insurance from my 01 Jetta 1.8T was 21 dollars per month.

So now, with my daily driver (my MKII supra) and the S2k it goes up to 182/month, with a 200/200 deductable. It's also at the highest coverage levels on the standard plans, not the minimums in Texas. I live in a college town, with terrible accident rates, but have never been in an accident, had only one hail damage claim, and have only had one ticket in my life, which should be off of my record by now. I'm 22, and have individual insurance policy, so it's not on a parent's plan or anything; heck my father has a terrible driving record and going on their insurance would've increased my premium
