Is the s2000 losing its umph?
Did i miss something?
This is not a Ferrari or Veyron. It's an inexpensive Honda. You buy it because you like driving it. So I don't understand when you say "this ricer did this, this ricer did that, blah blah blah", when you're in here talking about what people did.
I completely agree with CKit. I would use my car and have fun with it. At the end, it's just a car and what you take with it is what counts.
I put 80,000 miles in 3 years in my Evo and it was 100% worth it.
"I think we're seeing a breed of teens and early 20-somethings who buy the car to represent something. Status, achievement, etc. They get very defensive when someone "tarnishes" that image.
But really, if it can be bought on a budget... how elitist can you expect to be? Use it, enjoy it. Mod it if you want it to be unique. I like FI and mods to keep the "uumph.""
It's what YOU do with it that matters, not what OTHERS do.
No matter what, you're still gonna be a ricer for thinking s2000 is some sort of Elite car or a Status symbol. That and you're telling people how poor you are. lol
Unless you're paying for their car payment, you don't have no rights to talk smack about what they do with their own money.

By no means was I trying to offend anyone, or tell anyone what cars they can and can't have. I was asking more about the influx of "ricers" onto the s2000 scene. Those who bought the car, but don't know anything about it.
I am with several of you. I was twenty when I picked up my MY01. I wanted to buy new, or even used, but financially I had to settle for wrecked. It was just my luck that the car I came across was supercharged. I made many sacrifices to have an s2000. And to be honest with you, I'm still paying.

so maybe some ricer also worked hard to get their s2000. have you ever think about that? also you bought a HONDA. Yes the s2000 is just a HONDA. Honda and Rice will aways mix.
Usually , if there's someone who is young with a nice car, I think:
1. Its not his, it's his parent's. (somewhat true)
2. It's his but he's in debt. (very true, with most people actually)
3. It's his and he owns it outright. (rare)
4. He's not young, just a well aged Asian man. (sometimes, but always hillarious)
So if number 2 is most often, why would I feel anything? I would just hope he puts some good tires on the car and hope his parents and he have insurance.

Shut up and drive.
What I'm trying to say is who cares? Enjoy your car for what it is: fun.

I should have never made the thread. This went completely opposite of what I thought. Sorry guys, I am out of line.

Seen a few of those actually
I get a kick out of this every time it comes up. Yes, we all love our cars as evidenced by the fifty million posts here. Somebody that buys an older cheaper example might or might not share the passion. I feel the same way about very good guitars being abused to play shit music. But the thing is, if someone buys something, they're entitled to do whatever they want with it. No matter how much it hurts.
