Usually , if there's someone who is young with a nice car, I think:
1. Its not his, it's his parent's. (somewhat true)
2. It's his but he's in debt. (very true, with most people actually)
3. It's his and he owns it outright. (rare)
4. He's not young, just a well aged Asian man. (sometimes, but always hillarious)
So if number 2 is most often, why would I feel anything? I would just hope he puts some good tires on the car and hope his parents and he have insurance.

This is what happens when they make this car for this long. Theyere are so many out there. Had they limited this car to a 4 year production, and stopped making it, the value and demand would be higher, therefore, we wouldn't be seeing this change in ownership. Yes, it's true. Younger owners will surface now, whereas they did not exist in beginning, so the exculsiveness of this car is different. That's just how it is. They simply kept this car going too damn long, and it's simply everywhere now.
It also has really killed the resale value too, which is why they can be bought for so cheap. Oh well, it is afterall a honda, so this was inevitable.

100%
I bought the S 'cause it was different than my buds cars. When it was time to get a new Toy I looked at the cars my friends were driving (Boxters, 350z's, RSX's, etc...), no one had a Honda. After looking into it for a while I found that it was a VERY good car and decided to get one, I don't like to follow the pack, at all. Something to do w/being a musician I think
So for a while I was in an exclusive club all to myself and the car generated a lot of interest from my friends.
Honestly now it's not so special, I see more and more all the time and unfortunately some are being 'riced' and the average age of the driver seems to have dipped some.
It doesn't take anything from my car but I do feel with the emergance of some other fine performance cars that will eclipse the Honda or just make it not seem so fast anymore (Mazdaspeed3 comes to mind, Solstice/Sky, new TT, new Boxter S. etc...) that the Honda has indeed 'lost' some of it's specialness (I know not a word). It's really a little dissapointing when other mfg's keep upgrading they're performance cars yet Honda sits back on it's laurels and pats itself on the back for making such a great car, almost 10 years ago!
Boxters have also come way down to affordability for most people, I've seen them in the mid teens as w/the Honda but you really don't see a lot of kids driving them. Somehow they've maintaned a certain amount of clout (even though the car may not be that great as w/older Boxters).
The comment 'long in the tooth' has some merit w/the S these days, no matter how many arguments passionate people will throw at you for saying it, it's the truth.
In know a lot of you will say the Mazdaspeed is NOT in the same league as the S and really it's not however when you look at the #'s and keep in mind that the Mazda is a UTILITY vehicle, from my point of view anyway, it makes you take notice, especially when you can't get it out of your rear view mirror.

This is a very interesting subject, I have to certainly agree that the s2k and any car for that matter should not be driven like a jackass.
These cars were built to be driven and to have fun, but one has to know the time and place to do so. In a crowded highway with motorist, soccer moms, and children is a definate no no. I've learned that with experience, and I hope many others should feel the same way.
Now on the other hand, if the road is wide open, then so should your throttle.
Respect other motorists. There is time and place for everything.
That is key!

I don't know, 30% resale at 8 years is pretty damn good.
Some american cars are only worth that at the end of three years.

As examples of why snobs suck so much.
Some of the snobs here make me be ashamed to be associated with the car or these forums.
I'm glad to see the price of the car coming down, because apparently that's going to drive away most of the arrogant pricks.

The more these forums change, the better they get.
The degradation of this site is another example of the downfall of the car. As the car gets cheaper and cheaper in the 'used' market, we get more and more immature posters to the site. One of the reasons so many of the veterans have either gone over the the Vintage forum or just plain left.

Can anyone explain to me why this is STILL in 'S2000 talk' and open?
