I know that I overpaid when I purchased my '02 a couple of years ago. It only had about 12 000 miles on it, perfectly clean, one owner. But it was my dream car, and once I saw the car in the flesh, it was game over. I did not stand a chance.

The examples above are overpriced highway robbery. I looked long and hard to find a 2003 berlina black s2000 that was one owner, stock, and no wrecks under 45k miles. Clean examples are still out there but you will have to travel to pick up the car. I'm on my third ownership by the way.

Don't forget fender rolling.

Me too

But I think those posts represent a small segment of the market and owners. People who are prone to modding are likely to be here posting about it!

I see many very nice, unmolested S2000s around town, driven by old ladies and other normal people.

NADA guide tracks prices better than KBB on these cars. For some reason KBB seems way off compared to typica listing prices (private and dealer). Its somewhat ironic for a known s2000 enthusiast to complain about other enthusiasts not wanting to give these great cars away... Especially since you noted that it seems to be across most sellers. Also, with the economy improving this trend of these cars retaining their value will continue as people make room in their garages for toy cars.

Did anyone notice that the low mileage S has a tilt steering wheel?

There were two ap1's at my location in socal for 9500.00 got scooped up fast. They both needed work kinda beat up but body was straight. Inside was a mess. I guess 5k of work needed to be done excluding engine and mechanical. Off the bat 3k paint Tires and a bunch of interior had crappy aftermarket seats. Brakes were toast. Soft-top was bad on both. These things I could see without starting or driving the cars.

I suspect you could part the car out for near 7 k or so depending on condition of some of the parts.

I think the market price for these cars are right where they should be for a car no longer in production and for what it is. This was the car during its time people still compare it to cars of today.

Another Supra mid to late 90's? look at thoes prices. LoL

And yes stock body is the best.

Aftermarket body kits, widebody, fender rolling gonna bring the price down.

Once you get back into the s your feeling will change.

When I was shooting the breeze with the local Honda deanship (very large-Folsom CA) service manager, he mentioned he sees 2 kinds of S owners. The first is the sometimes "younger" driver with modded cars that are treated like ordinary cars, another means of transportation. The second he said, is like me. Pristine, almost all the maintenance is done by the owner and is very particular about what happens to it. He said it is an unusual car in that it has owners taking such particular interest and care of it compared to other Hondas.

I'm in PA and a lot os s2ks i see around here are about 2k over blue book/NADA value as well. I guess since its not a DD type of car around here people can afford to sit on their weekend warrior cars until they get what they think it is worth
