s2000, old school or still considered new school

I live a few miles out of a country town. I have never seen another S2k in the area.
Today I was in town early, & picked up a few things from the supermarket. While I was loading them a lady's voice said "Now that is a lovely car". I stuck my head out from behind the boot/trunk lid, & an attractive 30 something lady was walking past.
I said, "yep, & I love it". She gave me a big smile & said, "I'll bet you do".
I get these type of comments regularly, from kids to retirees, & they are always complementary. My S is very low mileage, & in mint condition. I would bet they all think it is a new car, worth 2 or 3 times what you pay for one.

The car is old and like my Celica, the design and technology made both those cars ahead of its time. It still has the new shape and modern look today when you line it up with the average cars on the streets. It has that "new" feel to it.

Agreed here, especially on the isolation comment. Even with the limited seat time I've had so far, many things in the S2000 remind me of my old 96 GSR sedan. I think the best way to describe it is unpretentious as compared to a lot of the "newer" cars we see these days. Old and new are relative terms though I guess. Either way, its definitely a car from now-gone era. Not even the FRS/BRZ twins can mimic the feel of the S2000 even though they advertise a "pure, back to basics" driving experience.
Certainly in terms of driving feel, control feel, philosophy, etc, the S2000 is very much a 1990's Honda. My 03 Accord V6 is clearly the product of a different company than my "newer" 06 S2000. Priorities at Honda had started to shift towards space, refinement, lower control effort. My Accord still hussles properly but it does it with a greater feeling of vehicle weight and control isolation than the Hondas that came before it (including Accords). The S2000 was a relic of old Honda even by the time it was first introduced. The driving experience has more in common with my 91 Accord than my 03 Accord.
