my '03 with 1500 miles has very few pitting on the wheels. it doesnt bother me though, you cant even see them unless you really look for them. all wheels are prone to this kind of damage(the alloys on my 94 accord ex had some pitting too). just try to avoid roads with lots of loose rocks and you should be fine.

Yup - pits from the winter roadtrip home from our dealership when we bought her...WA to UT. (Barely had 800 miles on her after that trip.)

I doubt that any honda dealers would replace the wheels because of rock chips. If so Im gonna have them replace my front bumper.

Just got my car back with the updated part # 72250-S2A-A03 to fix the driver door window that gets stuck when putting the top down.

I had them look at my wheels and they wanted to replace them on the spot for the pitting. It's worse in person than the pics I posted above show. I'm going to wait a bit, and was told I have 3yr, 36k to get them replaced under warranty, and they added this problem to my file and it's documented.

I have a feeling if I get new rims on, this might happen again.

Now, I thought of an idea. You know the material those CLEAR BRA'S are made from? That thin lexan stuff? Sometimes you see it on some cars on the side of rocker panels? I could cut some out and put it on the inner spokes and there is no way it would chip again, and you can't see it.

Does anyone know what I mean?

MY2002, 6K miles and one or two chips but nothing like your wheels. I know you said the car is garaged in winter but do you travel through any construction zones routinely where there is probably a ton of gravel/asphalt to be kicked up onto your wheels ? could be cause of excessive chips.

I live in the Northeast too, I drive in both the city and in the extreme country, including a few dirt roads; my wheels have the same little chips. Not much you can do about it in my book, other than cleaning the car and putting it in the garage for the rest of its life, and that sure ain't going to happen to me....

Good luck, I suspect you should live with them until you can't take it anymore and then get them powdercoated silver or grey or whatever. The powdercoat will not chip!

3m is one of the companies that make the clear film but it might fly off unless its a very good cut since the tires are rotating, centrifugal force and all. I have the chips as well and will ask about replacement when I take it to the dealer for the next maintainance.

I've got them too. It doesn't bother me much cause can't really see them unless your eyeballs are right up on your wheel. But I know how you feel being somewhat anal myself.

I'm looking to replace the oem wheels in a month or two any how.
