Prius? Really? Might as well get a Vespa too and complete the gay nerd Quinella.

I purchased a Fit and kept the S2000. I average 46mpg in the fit primarily with normal highway driving. My insurance claims it as a station wagon. I still drive the S pretty much every day on the back roads.

A Prius is on the mind...
Reasons our
-4 seats instead of 2
-no more premium gas cost.
-save over $1000 on gas alone annually according to how much o spend now
-save about $279 annually on car insurance
-51+ plus mpg
-more space and leg room.

What do you guys think? I love the s2k but it might be time for change. I'm willing to give up the thrills for the practicality.
I know the Prius isn't the prettiest car, or sportiest but it does get to point a to b more efficiently.
I have an offer though a dealership, am I making a mistake?
NO! I traded a 2002 WRX in for a 2011 Honda Civic because I thought it was time to grow up and save some money. I was very disappointed... It made me want to cry to drive such a funsucking car.

I also have both a 2nd gen Prius and my AP2 S2K. I love both of them as well, the Prius is extremely useful and has given me no trouble for the last ~7 years. The S2k is way more fun, obviously, but I've really enjoyed owning both cars.

Ask how they dispose of the batteries and how they are a burden on our environment after their life is up in the car. Get another Honda PERIOD.

Agreed. Is there anything out there that combines being ugly and slow together so horribly as the Pruis?

I'm not sure I'd think highly of a mechanic that loves the feel of 120 hp in an overweight hatch back.

If is for saving the money dont do it, even tho u "save" gas money and insurance money, and they say those batteries last up to 9 yrs, the reallity of the issue if that the hybrid batteries have to be replaced every 5k-7k miles at the cost of anywhere from $2300-$5k depending where u get them from and what kind of warranty u get with the car...
wtf are you talking about? Hybrid batteries last well over 100k miles. 5k miles is barely an oil change.

I really wouldn't do this. I think S2000 to Fit is more reasonable. If you do suspension mods to the fit and maybe turbo down the line, it could be a blast to drive (it arguably is in stock form). You only live once... I would never want that life to involve 100,000+ miles in a desolate, soul-dissolving modern Toyota.

I'm always very weary of Prius drivers on the road. I see them in accidents constantly. They never use turn signals (or leave them on when they do), they drop anchor in the passing lane, they honk or gesture very quickly (2 times in my life ive been victim of excessive road rage... both times by old white men in Priuses in a parking garage because they were afraid i would back up into them as they gave me no room to get out of the spot), they are typically all battered up from ramming into cars while parallel parking, their drivers are generally speaking inept etc etc etc.... The only benefit to you getting a Prius is that you are probably likely to be a better Prius driver than most, coming from an s2000. Maybe you can help them make a better name for themselves.

My friend was at first a STAUNCH nonbeliever when I explained to her that Prius drivers are downright dangerous. Over the past year she has started paying attention, and is now keen to their ability to cause accidents, drift out of lanes, disobey traffic signals, fail to yield, forget turn signals exist, and tie their own shoes. Please, I beg of you, don't join this legion of tragic specimens. I know that Prius drivers are irrelevant here since you are simply buying for yourself, and perhaps I'm selfishly going on a tangential rant, but still... I cringe at the thought. Just buy an Insight or Jetta TDI or even a Kia Soul at least, anything but that deadly little hybrid.
