S2000 Replacement Key NOT from Dealer

I bought a generic key, cut and programmed, at ace hardware for around $80. Ap1

I only had the valet key, and the nearest Honda dealership sold me a master key for$50 and cut/programmed it for free. Wouldn't hurt to call and ask to see how much they will charge you.

I still don't understand why you don't want to go to the dealership.

My dealership charges $50 to program + the cost of the key you pick.

Since we are on the key question, how close does the chip need to be to the wheel (or whatever) to disable the immobilizer? If I put a spare key somewhere on the frame in a magnetic box, would that location defeat the immobilizer?
