Great work so far, but I'd really like to see the areas behind the driver and passenger head covered if at all possible. I personally find that is where most of the vehicle noise comes from when cars pass by you. If you cover that with some type of material I think it would really be a sweet product. Even if it was a loose fitting cover it would be fine as you don't really see much to the rear but it helps to have some sound deadening and even some insulating effect in those two areas. I think you would sell many more if you could achieve that. Best of luck with things, I'll keep my eyes peeled if you do go for it.

I'm assuming you mean the area to the left in the first pic and down the sides. You're right- it would be hard to get it stretched tight, but a fleece backing seems like it would really help out. I need to experiment to get the sides to fold away correctly.

I thought of something else. I could use fasteners on the sides instead of stitches. That would open up options: different types of fasteners and different patterns they're applied in. It would probably look like a biker jacket though... Hollow fasteners ("eyelets?) might look good.

I'm down for one of these. If you decide to produce these please keep us updated via this thread or PM!

I would be interested, depending on the final build quality.

headliner would be great depending on the final cost. hopefully it'd remain under $200.

that german one really does give the car a great finished look and even a simple headliner only covering the center section makes the interior a lot classier

That's my priority. I don't want any glue involved in the final product.

I'm still avoiding the price debate, but i will say this- vinyl, canvas, and fleece will definitely be under $200.

nice idea. the giant S looks a little tacky though IMO. But good job, lemme know if u end up doing anything
I agree. The color also looks lighter in the pics than it actually is. I will be altering the S shape and making it a bit smaller. I didn't realize how big it was until i installed the roof in the car.

Dont like the way the S looks when the top is down but this is a good idea and if refined properly I see a market for.
I am really interested in trying out a small S in the front middle. I think it would be much more subtle, and when the top is down, the S will still be displayed right in the mddle.

Looks nice! Are you going to try and make one that covers everything on the roof? Basically so it looks like a normal roof without all of the hinges and stuff showing? Or is it just the front roof section? Iv seen one that covers everything but the search is down right now so I cant look for it. If its something like that for a good price I would definetly be intersested! Good job!
If this idea takes off, I will probably make one that covers the next section in the roof too, right behind the driver's and passenger's head. I am still not sure about covering some sections on the sides as JFUSION suggested. It is a good idea, but i will need to experiment (and improve my sewing machine skills ).

I am very interested in lining these products with fleece. I believe it would make them much more functional. I have also decided to drop leather from the mix- it's expensive, heavy, and too thick to tuck into the front trim. I like the way the current one butts up directly to the front plate. I think it cleans things up more. Vinyl is just cheaper, lighter and looks exactly the same as leather, plus it would have no effect on dropping the top. I am still considering suede though. It have potential. I may be able to get vinyl with a suede texture for those who don't want to pay for suede.
