Here is a link for the liner I saw. Supposedly they had a group buy for it a few years ago. But if you could come up with something like this, it would be awesome!

I would pay up near $200 or so for this. I really think that looks nice.

I am really interested in trying out a small S in the front middle. I think it would be much more subtle, and when the top is down, the S will still be displayed right in the mddle.
...or print little googley eyes so when the roof is down it's _staring_ at you.

Like the money you could be saving with Geico...

I am going to attempt a liner that covers the entire roof in the near future. I think i can do it. I'll probably offer it w/ and w/o a fleece liner, maybe the one w/o will allow the top to go down . I would really like to achieve that. I won't have any idea about cost until i have a working prototype, but i'm not sure i will be able to do it under $200.

I'm going to treat this as a full-time job when i'm not working (i haven't been getting enough shifts lately). I got the sewing machine working, so tonight I'm going to attempt an extended liner that covers the next section of the top, the hinges, and the sides. I want it to cover everything that is visible from the seats w/o turning your head and intentionally looking in the back. I can assure everyone that if i succeed it will be under $200. My goal is to make this as cheap as possible. I am pretty thrifty, and i won't charge any more than i would be willing to pay- which isn't much.

I can't hint at what customization will cost yet. I should be talking to another embroiderer today. I wasn't happy with the other's quality.

I might be interested in one of these at some point. Do you actually notice a noise difference?

Definitely interested in something like this, especially if the quality is there and you can find a way to cover most of the inside of the top. Good start....

Alright. I had a lot to do this afternoon, but i spent awhile playing with the top mechanism and measuring. I have made templates, but i won't know if the top will collapse correctly until i have a vinyl prototype.

I have been thinking about the sound deadening and insulation aspects... I am going to try thick quilt batting too. It compresses easily and it should function well. Any thoughts?

I was also wondering what colors everyone would be interested in?

Cool man. Well keep us updated on this, and even if it fail's just let us know! Most people just dissapear off the forum for a while if it doesnt go as planned. I think for the sound deadening aspects, just go for what you think is best. I would be interested in a black vinyl one since it matches with pratically any interior. That would probably be the most popular since most people have all or mostly black interior.

If the Germans can make one of these then I am sure you can do the same, especially in doing the entire inner lining, I'd be interested.
From what I have read about the German version, it's the fitting of the rear part on the liner that seems the most difficult, have you researched the German version? The back part I think is fixed over the soft top tray.
Maybe someone with a german one, can chime in and let you do a copy? Versions rear glass window and plastic as well, as in the German version.

I've lined my HT and the sound deadening is astounding, just like in a normal coupe now.

So when I'm soft top up, it would be good to be quieter, as have become use to this.

also to expand your new venture, you might like to plan ahead and create a liner for the HT guys as I am sure you'd find interest, just a positive suggestion.

google S 2000 logo, and you'll find the proper font S

Thanks to the tips guys

xoz- I am pretty confident i can to it too and for a reasonable price! I haven't see the German version before, just the pictures that were posted on the thread there are links to on the first page. I have a design pretty well worked out in my head, and it is pretty simple. It will also run back to the tray in the back, but i don't see why it would be difficult to install. I am going to attempt to use velcro to keep cost down and make installation/removal a breeze.

For the original concept (which i still plan to make available at a much cheaper price), I didn't want to use any glue. I don't think i'm going to be able to do that for the full sized liner. That's a lot of seems. Not only am i a little intimidated by that, i also don't see any sense in stitching the areas that can't be see, especially since it would drive up the price. Gluing would also make fitment in the back easier as it would stretch more than stitched vinyl. That glue is REALLY strong- i'm not concerned about it's durability. My only concern with it was build quality.

As for a HT liner, i don't have access to one, but maybe if this all goes smoothly i may seek one out. It should be easier than the soft top. I'm just worried about running out of time. I will be entering a grad program in Aug, and i don't know how much free time i will have to work on these things. It's a great idea though!
