Where did you get 32k? I've been seeing 25k as the estimated price.

Hah! Yeah that's base price. Expect that price + options + dealer markup/gouging and you're looking at $30k easy if you want to buy one ANY time soon.

To the OP, look out of state for an S2000. I flew down to Florida to get mine and am very glad I did.
So $32k list S2000s were selling for $40k when they were new?

I've always seen them list MSRP, not invoice (which has profit on it already). Given that they'll have the FR-S and BRZ, I can't imagine it being that hard to get one.

When they first came out, MSRP was $32,000 and there was no CR. 2005 was pre-housing bubble and for the most part, the economy was considered fine. Nonetheless, the S2000 was still available under list, and in some cases, under invoice ($29,820 in 2005).

Edit:
BRZ Limited for only $85 over MSRP $28.3k (+ TT).

First and foremost the difference is that the brz/frs is RWD and the civic is FWD, so that already puts them in totally different classes. True the brz should be on par with the civic si as far as acceleration figures are concerned, but that is where the similarities end. That being said, I like the brz/frs but I can't see myself trading in my s2k on one and I do think it would be wise for them to offer the brz/frs with an optional turbo.

Maybe my criteria was too tough? I wanted an 00-02 GPW with the red interior or with the black interior with less than 80k miles, any AP1 or 06+ AP2 silver one with the red/black interior or a full black interior with less than 80k miles, any Laguna blue pearl with less than 80k miles, or any AP1 NFR or 06+ AP2 NFR, again, with less than 80k miles. Because the prices are so close to really good new cars, such as the WRX or the BRZ/FR-S, looks like, unless I was going to buy with cash, the better choice would be for me to go the new car route.

Thing is, every time I tell myself that I will go to the Subaru dealer and pick up a WRX, I know that I am telling myself that I will stay with that car for next 10+ years, since it makes the most financial sense to do that. Because of that, I am hesitant, and go back to looking at S2000s, because I know I can be happy with owning one of those for the rest of my life, and I know I will regret not owning one. I don't feel the same about any other car. On the other hand, a 4 door awd car is a great long term purchase, since I am 25, and living in NY, I can haul friends, family, etc, maybe even kids in the future (shudder)...

Le sigh....

just some rantings and musings from a disgruntled driver still stuck driving his old Prelude.

Dude I'm in the same spot you are in! I have the same lude too haha. The lude is a great daily but it isn't really a people hauler. Then again neither is a s2000. Hang in there!

As has been said, the BRZ is going to go for about 27k OTD in the beginning, it will be lower after that, but not by much. It's a really good value for someone wanting a fun 2 door car, but to be honest, I am done with 2 doors. If I want a sports car, give me a real one like an S2000, just 2 seats, a drop top, and a revvy engine, that's it. I keep looking at miatas, but that would be more like a toy car for me, since I only like the NA ones, and those are older than my Prelude.

I was actually looking into getting an FR-S or BRZ, but that was when the price was closer to 21k, now that it's so close to WRX prices, I don't see a point to getting one because the WRX offers so much more for the money.

I see cars like these all the time. I don't like it in yellow, I don't like it in black, the red one has two different aftermarket wheels on it (that's a red flag), one has been repainted I want mine to have original color), and the other has had a supercharger strapped to it. I want mine to have no more than an intake and an exhaust, at the most, NA is best...

My lude:

Nice lude! Is it Nordic Mist metallic as well? Those are rare cars indeed, only made a few of them in 1997. They have like a purple hue to them due to the pearls they used in the paint. I'll try to stick with it, by my prelude is really showing its age, and little tiny rust spots are appearing everywhere. I really need to get a better form of transportation because I actually don't want to drive my lude long distance anymore.

This is very helpful, now I am on my way to joining a credit union. there are so many that I qualify for though, so it will take some time to sort through and pick one that is right for me.

Here's what I did, as far as financing goes:
(1) Find local credit unions
(2) Get quotes from all of them
(3) Pick best one, and join on the spot

I'm very happy with my rate.

Thank you sir! mine is a crystal blue metalic as she is a 2000 sh . kinda hard to believe the lude isnt gonna cut it anymore ... theyre pretty tough machines! i cant really be one to complain as i live in socal where the weather is nice all year long lol. my lude runs like a champ especially since i fixed all of her oil leaks . im pretty sure your lude just needs a lil mclovin' thats all haha. but i can also see why its hard to spend any more money on it since ur looking into getting another car. hopefully we both find what we're looking for lol. personally im looking for a silverstone ap2 with red and black interior with less than 100k. but i'll take almost any sub 100k s2k lol. keep ur hopes up man! that lil s2k ur looking for IS out there. its only a matter of time >...and money hahaha
in any case if you do decide to let go of that full lip kit let me know
