I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid questions.

Is it just me or Is our cars slower on Acceleration when the AC is on?

Thank You
Yup, slower than a Miata even. But don't make fun of miatas on this forum, they are held in high regard, even though they are incredibly gay.

I'm under the impression the compression turns off at WOT.

Can anyone confirm?
This is a commonly held misconception I think, I read that it only turns off above 7k RPM, regardless of throttle position.

It's kinda like 2nd VTEC

Not only does AC slow the s2k down, but excessive battery usage, too, as you're drawing more from the alternator.
Not any worse than running the fan without the A/C.

I realized I didn't word that quite right. I meant to say that while running the AC is a major "power hog" from your engine, if you have other things going (lots of stuff running of the 12v line, fans going full-blast, etc.) the engine is bogged down further.

yep. try turn every single electronic equipment in your car on as well as have the AC on high...you actually feel/hear the idle change.

it also makes the car a bit jerky at times as the a/c compressor engages and disengages while you're shifting. It's not that pleasant of an experience driving with the a/c on.

it does rob a tiny bit of power. it's noticeable, but not as bad as you guys make it out to be.

True for any car, but far more noticeable as the engine gets smaller.

Hit the A/C on a big V8 and you won't even know it's on.
^THIS

My little 1.5 liter CRX HF that made all of 66 HP. It was fun to accelerate with A/C on and then turn it off to feel the power boost...almost like a VTEC surge!
