S2000, TT, Boxster, Miata...
... oh, and remember, don't let some zealot tell you what to buy or not to buy. It's your life, it's your money, and it's <gasp> only a car. We age, our cars age, and we move on to something else eventually.
GID- great plan trying a used one first!
My first drive was a used 2001 that had 3,500 miles on it. I took the salesman with me and held nothing back. I have some serious track experience and I had warned the guy I was going to be putting the car through its paces. I laughed for days every time I thought about it.
Please do me one favor before you go out on your ride. Take a look at the back tires, if they are quite a ways down on tread, be cautious with getting onto the throttle hard in a corner. This is a true performance car and it will reward you with smooth inputs.
Enjoy!

I can honestly say that I researched this for two years since the S2000 came on the market. And being a German it was not easy to admit the superior of a rice-cooker. But for the money and the performance there is nothing that touches this car. Besides, now with the new glass rear window it even beats a boxster that I was considering for 54,000 $.
I am totally converted, I love my S2000 and there is no other car that I would buy.
I recommend that you test drive one!!!
Cheers

Here are the reasons you should buy the S2000
-Overall Performance Better than all others listed
-Handling and Stiffness (The best out of the group and has a very well engineered x-bone chassis.
-Fun Factor 9000rpm redline, turbo like boost from VTEC, ready for the track.
-Resale Value Hmmm...its a Honda. On top of that, A Limited Producion Honda!
-Limited Production vehicle Not many seen on the road at all....I see Miata. Boxster and Z3's everywhere. 500 units/year only to Canada
-Reliability Providing you perform scheduled maintainance, you can take this car to the race track every weekend and it still would be as reliable as a Civic.
-Styling Truly a sexy unique looking roadster.
-All U Need Virgin Sports Car That sais it all, what else do you need?
Need I say More?
Peace

Sidenote-
LVS2K-I saw the "baseball glove" Audi convertible at a car show and thought it was, not only unattractive, but the silliest concept for an interior in this price range, unless maybe you're a ball player, or a HUGE fan. Reminded me of a childs bedroom set where the bed looks like a racecar.
How did this ever get great reviews from professional car people????

I actually get quite a buzz when I see a TT especially the coupe'. I think it looks great and it was brave of Audi to actually bring out a production car virtually unchanged from the very radical concept design originally shown.
Whilst I don't advocate change for the sake of it, manufacturers have to do this if cars are going to progress from the situation, particulary with hatches, where they're all starting to look the same!
I went for a test drive in a TT coupe and I wasn't particularly impressed with the acceleration. However the salesman who was trying really hard, suggested I return with my wife for a second test drive which I did. My wife took one look at the car and flatly refused to get in it!!
She remained adamant despite all my persuasion, and from the look of utter disgust on her face, the salesman relised he wasn't going to sell us one!
One the way home we had quite a heated argument as I told her that she'd done me out of a second test drive!
I still like the shape, but couldn't personally live with it, which probably means I'm some sort of indecisive nut!

Hmm you say the S2K was TIGHTER to fit in than the TT?
wow, I found it to be the TOTAL opposite.
I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, when I got in the TT, my leg jammed between the steering wheel and the console, couldn't even turn the wheel!
I also looked at the boxster - ick,
the Z3, I looked out clear over the top of the windshield frame, no WAY that top was going over my head (ever seen the beginning of the Flinstones cartoon where Dino's head pokes out thru the roof?).
I had the same thing when I looked at the Prowler.
The S2K fits like a glove, I'm definitely pushing the max on the fit, but it's far from uncomfortable.
It's even better since I changed the wheel and have more leg room getting in and out.
Just my 2 bits.
