S2000 vs. 2006 Civic Si
When did this become an Si vs. RSX-S dicussion?
As many hear have put it, the Si for practicallity would be your choice. IF you are willing to have to work with the lack of interior room and trunk space then go for the S.
This is like comparing apples to oranges.
If you are trying to base this decision on $$$ and a all-around car, you are looking at the wrong car.
I have two cars that function for different reasons. 1) S for sanity purposes and pure fun. 2) TSX for passenger and trunk space (Golf clubs)
What are you going to use the S for?

You do realize the Si has a Limited slip diff and the RSX-S doesn't. The Si has side curtain airbags, RSX-S doesn't. You can get summer perf tires on the Si at no cost, RSX-S you can't unless the dealer does it. The Si has a 360watt stereo, RSX-S doesn't. The Si has balancer shafts which for some reason help to reduces the boom sound in the cockpit at high rpms, and the RSX-S doesn't. The Si has electronic power steering, RSX-S doesn't. You can get Navi on the Si. The base price on the Si is under $20k, and the RSX-S is $23,800. And as far as I see it the only advantages are leather seats, 6 disc cd changer and climate control. I personally thnk the Si is so much a better buy, and a better performance car. With $4k difference in price, sales on the RSX-S are likely to drop, even more than they have been.
360 watt stereo? You sound like a car salesman. First, it's probably not even close to 360 watts. Second, that's not even considered anything significant. You also forgot to mention the Bose system the RSX comes with, including it's own sub with an amp. If you're worried about cabin noise, buy a Lexus. I'm not sure what this "boom" noise from high rpm's is, but if you're talking about the engine hitting VTEC, I welcome it.
LSD is a plus and the electric PS could be interesting, but until it's proven at the track, I'm going to remain skeptical. (yes, I saw the article above, but I'd like more than one journalist's opinion)
Navi - whoopie doo.
I hope you realize Honda is not stupid. The Integra/RSX line has always been superior to Civics, and it will remain that way for obvious reasons. If you think the Civic is such a better car/buy than the RSX, I hope you're willing to wait a bit to see what Honda's got up their sleeve for the RSX (or sucessor).
The reason why I said I'd rather get the RSX - I've always liked the fit and finish on an Acura than a Honda (i.e. Accord vs TSX/TL, Integra vs Civic, etc) I like the styling, lines and the AM support for the RSX. Plus, a used RSX can be had for a lot cheaper.
getting back on topic, these two are very different cars.
i haven't driven the Si, but if it's anything like the RSX-S i think it's a great vehicle with great performance for a FWD sports coupe. Really, it's up to you and if you really wanted a 2 seater sports car, i wouldn't be thinking you'd be comparing it to a Civic Si. Personally, i'd rather get a MY02 S2000 than a MY06 Civic Si any day of the week including rain and snow weather

You will likely save more than you think. The city mileages are 20 vs. 22 and the hwy mileages are 31 vs. 26. So, either way you will net a cost savings for the Si. Any S2000 you pick up for around $20k will likely not have a warranty on it, unless you get a great deal, or buy one for it. Your insurance will be more on the S2000. The Si has a larger trunk, back seat and a more functional front seat area for everyday use. All in all, the Si is a more usable and practical car, which just happens to be one of the best handling FWD sport compacts on the market.
But, it can come nowhere close to the pure driving pleasure and enjoyment you will get from the S2000. One friend of mine about wet his pants the first time he drove my S2000, he loved the tranny and shifter so much. And it still amazes him when he drives the car. Sometimes driving it, it seems like it takes a little time to get to the VTEC point on the tach, but it is still worth it.
In the long run, unless you are single it may be hard to live with the S2000. There have been days when I wished my trunk was larger. But, the sacrafises are well worth it.

I have driven the New Si, and let me tell you... It is NICE... BUT nice for a civic. It comes NOWHERE near the S2000.
id take a used S2000 over a new Si. Also remember that new Si is going to be EVERYWHERE. All the little rice boys are going to be after it.
