I wouldn't surprised if an SMG is offered on the next series on "s2000's" Honda is the only one in F1 with a total composite transmission and having an SMG transmission keeps all the young whippersnappers from killing their car because software controls everything. Some the excitement is lost with SMG, and the shifts aren

to make 300Tq, the engine would have to be around 4 liters. a 4L I5 would not be able to rev that high. the internals would be too heavy. Plus, I5s have end to end balance problems requiring a balance shaft. The I4 has some second order vibration due to the difference in acceleration of pistons, but the S has no balance shaft, increasing revability.

the other way to make 300Tq would be a turbo. Also, if an engine made 300HP/300Tq it would have its power peak at 5250RPM (or a massive drop after 5200). If I wanted that I'd buy a domestic.

Huh? Sure I'd love a sequential six speed dog box but that's not going to happen on a street car, that's a racing transmission. If you want one you'll need to have it made by a racing transmission maker. The reason we don't is because Quaife and others can't find the financial justification to make a new bell housing. I personally don't have the $14 grand for such a thing.

WTF do you mean "manual"? Clutchless means automatic, SMG is automatic. What you guys are talking about is an electronically controlled automatic transmission with manual selector NOT a manual sequential gearbox. There is a huge difference.

I'm not sure how you can  something which you aren't going to find on a production street car. You may  the "idea" of one but if I'm to believe you love it because you've driven it and know what it is then you'll have to tell me where you drove it short of a race track or motorcycle.
Rip Van cthree, you've been sleeping under the tree for too long: MR2 Spyder 6 Speed Sequential Manual Transmission

And this on a car with very similar production numbers as the S too.

The MR2 could be an awesome car if they put some performance in it. I am suprised Toyota hasn't because it would be the leader in the group if they brought it up to the Z4, S2000, Boxster S, level. Mid-Engine, Toyota quality, strong price point, what else could you want? They styling is a really bland, and the interior is more like a Matrix than an Avalon...

I for one would very much like to have a SMG in this car. I think it would be the perfect match for it. And by SMG I mean a Manual car that has an automatic clutch like the MR2 or the BMW version. I would also like it to have a launch control setting and paddle shifters as well. No stupid buttons in the wheel. That would just be a blast to drive imo.

For me: Add a real glovebox, more interior room, auto door unlock switch for passenger door on drivers door, lighted swtiches on door, better antena, real guages out of an NSX, one touch all windows down, open and close top while moving-OK,better quality interior plastics, better sound system.

Now, I bought the car with all of the above missing and still love it. I have made some tiny mods to change a few of the above things too...i would buy it again even if they didn't do any of above...did I say 3.0 V8?
