2002 is the best year
Alot of the little bugs from the 00-01 models were fixed with the 02-03 models as other members have already mentioned. Biggest concern was the plastic rear window which they upgraded to the glass w/defroster. Good luck with your purchase.

The OP stated he would be driving the S2000 only half of the year. Why the fixation on glass backlight with defroster for a car that will be driven only in the warm weather? Snow tires?

Because he probably mistakenly thinks he can't drive it in the winter. Was that not obvious?

Would I really want to drive it in the winter? I mean a light car which is very low to the ground with lots of rwd power. I heard from a couple people that it would need a new paint job each winter if I drove it during the winter and it would be to much of a hassle to drive it during the winter, with the constant fear of getting hit or sliding into someone.
I live in Edmonton and so we get our fair share of snow here, road conditions are pretty bad. Lots of potholes and takes them awhile for the city to plow the roads so its drivable.

Thanks for all the replies!
I'm glad I asked around since I came across all the differences and after some thought now its leaning towards the 2002 models. Or whichever one is newer and cheap

If you find an 00-01 that the previous owner has upgraded to a rear glass window, that would solve one of the biggest problems...

AP1 buy an 03
AP2 buy the 07

Both are the latest and best variants. 07 last year without TPMS.
