S2k or 2007-up Si?
I bought my s2000 about a month ago and I had to make a similar decision. I think you should go with the S2000 since it sounds like you want it more, and I think thats what matters most, your gonna be driving it every day for a while so make sure its what you want. I chose the s2000 over a wrx and never looked back. And as for snow, I live in Chicago and as long as you have snow tires and youre carefull you should be fine.

S2000 hands down.
My Civic:

It's fun to drive. It's also in SCCA "Showroom Stock" class for club racing. Which means it is all OEM down to the wheels.
I also have two S2000s. A CR for B-stock autocross and a turbo AP1 with a sequential manual transmission for SSM autocross.
If I could only have one car, was still in college, had a crappy job that didn't pay well, I'd bust my ass studying and get the Civic. Get a great job after college and buy whatever you want then.

Im in Maryland also, I just bought a 09 GPW from SC and drove 550miles home, so far I love it, but it's not my daily driver, I also have a 04 TSX for the past 5 years. If you are not experienced driving a RWD car in the winter then you might want to get the SI. Also it will cost more to own than the SI, did you check insurance? The s2k will be more fun to drive.

Hello fellow S2ki members!
I am a 22 yr old college student in Maryland and I am currently saving up for a down payment on either a 2007-up Civic Si or an S2000. My job is okay but can be tedious at times so I figure I need some motivation as to why work so hard haha. The reason I am getting a car is so that I can give my current car back to my brother(he needs it back, it is a 2002 SE-R Spec V and his 350Z is not very roomy and it cannot be driven in the snow.) I could probably afford to spend arouns 14-15k depending on how much I plan to put down on the down payment. This probably equals an AP1.
I was considering the Si because I can get all the "fun to drive"-ness of a Honda(smooth gearbox) without any of the drawbacks the S2k presents such as RWD and no go in the snow(I live in Maryland) and the need to buy a hardtop. I hear many S2k's get their softtops slashed and seats stolen =(
I know there will obviously be some S2k bias on this forum, however, shud I just go for an Si? Thank you all.

Personally I just find all Civics after 00 hideous. I just can't pull myself to own one. People are talking about insurance, but I found it wasn't really THAT much of a difference. Liability only on my Civic hatch was $47 a month. Full coverage on my 05 S is only $90 a month. Like I said before, you need to find out what YOU really want and what qualities best suit you at this point in time.
Keep in mind S2000's are getting cheaper and cheaper which means more and more are getting ragged out. You only live once. I say pick up the S and eat Ramen noodles the next X amount of years of college.
