S2K Bites The Dust (or tree)
I'm not super experienced but I've taken corners HARD, I've accelerated hard and I have driven in rain.
I have yet to come CLOSE to spinning the car. I've had some moments of oversteer and corrected, mostly in colder weather. In the hands of a pro this car can do AMAZING things.
I'm always surprised watching pro-drivers, they can take an echo and do things us "normal" drivers can't do in the S. This car is a highly tuned machine and in the hands of the right person is probably one of the safest. If you aren't a pro take it easy.
I suspect 90% of the crashes are driver error, even if the conditions were not 100% a more experienced driver would/could have avoided the accident.
A couple of years ago I was accelerating in 1st in a straight line to around 7000rpm when I shifted into second. The car's rear end abruptly slipped out to one side and I had to quickly correct it to keep the car driving straight.
I was running on good tread Dunplop SP9000s (apparently good in wet), conditions were dry, around 10'C, perhaps a bit of road grime about, but the car still lost traction on one wheel and wanted to slip out. Anticipation that this could happen was key to recovery....
Glad to hear that you made it out of that wreck safely! Good luck with insurance / repairs.

i call bs on your story too, i told you to learn to drive the rwd before you did anything stupid, you came from 2 fwd cars theres no way in 1 month you got enough experience to know this car.
you make me sick, i told you i would punch you in the face if u f*cked this car up too, and now im considering it greatly.
for your next car get a corrolla, civic, or saturn, screw it get a bicycle.
oh robin, cold tires have crap traction were they warmed up?

An instinctive understanding of RWD in other words. Instant correction before it's out of control. An instinct that has been bred out of most drivers by twenty plus years of Detroit (and most others) shipping out front wheel drive cars. I once bounced off the rev limiter while in a ninety degree turn, and there was some sand on the road. I felt the rear start to walk out, and corrected w/o issue. Had there been an oncoming car in the road that I needed to use to correct the walk, then there would have been an issue, but then I wouldn't have been going that fast if that were the case.
It's all about anticipation. And a reason I want to kill anyone that tailgates.

First off... I am glad that you have come outta this accident unharmed... but, I too find it very hard to believe that you lost control going straight without giving it a lot of gas....
I have fish-tailed in the rain before... but it was going around a turn and I was gassing it a lil too much... but it was a loss of traction for a fraction of a second... and i probably didnt turn more than 1 degree off course.... I cant' imagine how much more gas it would've taken to lose complete control...

? What ?
How do you go off the road and hit a tree like that, going straight, at only 40mph?
I understand you probably can't say everything and have it come back and refute what you told your insurance...
