Why are you asking us for our opinions if all you want to do is argue when we don't agree with you?

If you want to buy a CR-Z, go for it. Not sure why you need everyone here to love the car to make you feel better though.

If I wanted a comfy commuter, I'd buy an old Lincoln Town Car for $5k and have a nice pillowy ride with plenty of room to spread out. At a savings of $15k, mpg wouldn't even matter - you'd have to drive the car 25 years at least to break even.

I have a 110mile a day commute and after crunching the numbers buying a 2nd car JUST to save on gas is about the most retarded thing ever.

my civic gets 10mpg better than my S and even that alone does not justify the extra insurance cost to keep both cars on the road.

the ONLY way buying something extra would make since is if it was a scooter that gets 90-100mpg, and a scooter that will do 70mph on the highway is fn scary as hell.
I dont plan to make it a second car to save gas. I plan to replace the S with it and a side effect will be some of the money I save on gas will go towards paying it off. Keeping proper tires on the S just to waste them on highway driving is getting a little old for me already. I love the car but I rather just pick up another one when i'm more settled and I can keep it as just a weekend/ track car.

I never expected everyone to agree with the decision to go with a hybrid fwd car, but some of the comments are just unnecessary and rude IMO.

In the long haul it will save me money, but i'm also looking to get into something comfy to spend 2 hrs a day in during my commute. I dont buy cars and get rid of them when their warranties are up.
In long haul as like 50 years then possible..
To buy a car to save on gas mileage is the worst possible idea!! Spend 20 grand to save a few dollars a day.. Hmmm.. Sounds like a good idea...
So maybe if you sell your s2k and get the CRZ for same price as selling your s2k, then you could save a little on gas money that way but to buy it to save money on commuting you are out of your mind!!

you're such a hater!!!

and unnecessary?
You asked for our opinion on if other people are going to be selling their RWD sports car that gets 25-30mpg, for a FWD hybrid that gets 35-40mpg, and pay MORE to do it.
We told you it's a bad idea and then support this idea with opinions that the CR-Z lacks performance and and incorporates Stevie Wonder exterior design themes.
Don't get mad when you ask people for their opinions, and they give it to you.

With that said, I'm gonna go buy a Miata for $3K, then complain that it's expensive to operate, then go buy a Nissan Cube for $15K. See what I did there? Now tell me how ridiculous that sounds and you'll see why you got the comments you did.

Enjoy the eye-sore CR-Z. You'll regret it daily.

I personally like how it looks. I just hate the seating accommodations and complete slowness. Its nowhere near a Prius in terms of MPG. 31MPG city for the manual? Wow. For 22k I'd take a bare bones Cooper S that is VERY quick, has more space, can get high 30's MPG without trying very hard. Ask me how I know.

In fact, when my s2k is paid off in the next year, I plan on buying another 05-06 Cooper S. When trying I'd get 37-39mpg and that was with a smaller pulley and intake. Man that supercharger would whine...

You could even get a base Cooper and get BETTER mileage. I've seen some in the low 40s.

The mileage isn't what attracts me to the car, it's the fact that is has the electric motor in it, and electric motors make 100% of their torque right from 0 RPM's. It should have plenty of torque to drive around solely on the electric motor from commuting. With that said there's no gas powered car that can get better MPG, because it wont be spending any gasoline.
