S2k getting a bit tiresome lol
Maybe I am bored, or maybe I am just getting old. I am 28 years old and have been driving the s2k for a few years now. There are times that I love the car, like last week for instance. Top down, sunny day in socal, ripping the car to 8k rpms...very stress relieving. It's a serious sports car, and I'm not going to get into why this car is so beloved. You guys know what this is all about. There's something special about it, and the bottom line is that it makes you feel special owning.
But, lately, there have been times where I have been fancying the idea of getting a new car. Something more comfortable and roomy. I hate the idea that I can not enjoy the car with someone other than a "homie". Taking girls out is always a chore for them, esp getting in and out. The blind spots is annoying at times. Trying to get out of sticky situations always involving pushing the engine to screeching levels. I'll admit, taking co-workers out to lunch is really not an 'S' thing also. The car is so damn small, I almost feel like my time is ticking with all the SUVs putting around.
Maybe I should do a trade in for a '11 WRX! Haha. Or even an EvoX... Blah! What am I saying. I'm going to bed.
Thanks for reading guys. I was just bored. /Rant

Yup. That's why mine was purchased strictly for an occasional toy. Same with my motorcycle. If that's "all" I had to drive then the fun wouldn't last. Otherwise when I get behind the wheel of the "S" it provides the sufficient sporty experience I bought it for.I've had Vets,Trans Ams,and big block Chevelles over the years.None of which I would have enjoyed driving as my only mode of transporation. My "S" is primarily a polish rocket that gets runs spritedly and put away clean. I've actually had worse cars as a daily drivers than the S though in the past, but I can relate to your comments.
I agreed. It's a good thing it's not my only car (in fact, all the people I know that owns a S2000 has another car to drive) or else it's gone. The mood and situation to drive this type of car it's not always there. I say it's a 80/20 for me. But that 80% of the time I can't stop smiling.

Ya, definitely consider picking up another car. I've felt much in the same boat as the OP at times with the car, especially on commutes in traffic to work (the cramped interior, lack of space, can only take 1 other person, which royally blows at times), but if I drive my automatic civic for a few days, the smile comes RIGHT back on my face when I hop in the driver's seat. I'm dreading come december at the first sight of snow/ice, when the s2k is going in the garage until all the crap is washed off the roads, and I'm stuck putzing around in my automatic dx civic for a few months.
When I sometimes think about getting a nicer/"comfier" car like an IS or 3 series, I remember how the cars drove, and I think how much I'd be telling myself "this sucks" after a few months as well. The 3 series have terrible throttle response, which makes you feel disconnected from the car, and the IS's suspension and handling leaves a lot to be desired for me. So, I think about else is out there, and think about how this is the perfect car for me. I'm all about the driving experience, and the cushy crap all seems to feel the same after a while (drove my brother's '06 TL for a week and it just felt "blah" after a week and it feels like a nicer accord).
I do worry in a couple years when I have kids about what I'll do with the s2k. Will I keep it or come to realize I simply won't have the time/ability to drive it enough to justify keeping it? That's my only real concern thus far. There's certainly no other car like it for the money, and hopefully I'll be in the position to buy a nice sedan and keep the s2k (maybe then I can justify a turbo??).

hmm it's strange because i know EXACTLY what you feel. when i bought the car 4 months ago it was literally a dream come true. i was so blessed to have owned it during the summer. but as the weather's getting cooler i'm starting to reach out for more "winter-friendly" car...i can't stop thinking about a 335i coupe xDrive...
luckily i use my mom's TL as a daily and about 2x a week i take my S out only on the weekends and when i do it's a blast. i still have thoughts to upgrade my S to a 335i 6 spd, but when the weather is perfect and the scenary is perfect i wouldn't trade it for any other car in the world. (so my solution will be to upgrade mom's tl for a 335i auto once i get out of college...best of both worlds IMO)
