The only time I get tired of the car is in the middle of the Florida summer when its 9 billion degrees out and the car bogs and feels powerless.
But after 3.5 years and 62K daily driven miles and I still love her to death.
With that said I've been toying with two ideas
1) Sell the S and buy a C6 Z06 in two years.
2) Keep the S and pick up a Evo X for a daily in two years.
We'll see how things look in 2012...
As a purely business decision I might have to sell my S
I've had for a year to eliminate payments and pull out
some equity.
I'm prolly adding another over-the-road tractor...and will
dedicate the next year to just work.
Of course in a year I will be back in the market..and even
though I love the rio-yello..I absolutely love the silver S with
the red/black interior!
I'm curently looking at 3 2000 Preludes....one of which is an SH..
I wonder how painful this "downgrade" will be?
Get an SUV for a daily driver! I got a Nissan Pathfinder...and switch off an on a couple times a week. Damn! When you get back in your S after a couple days in the SUV the S feels like a different animal. I have also had my S for a few years since 06 and I am also 28. I was feeling like you were feeling.
To the OP: I went through the same thing recently. I've had my S2000 7.5 years and pretty much fell out of love with it. I don't DD it and have a truck is use for that, but even driving it once or twice a week I wasn't enjoying it like I was when I was younger. Anyways I bought a 08 C6 and think it's just about the most perfect sports car you can buy. Yes its not as light and nimble as the s2000 but it does everything well. These are some of the pros and cons I found after owning it a few months:
Refinement: It drives great and is quiet and a great cruiser
Targa: Taking the top off fills the vert aspect that is nice is so cal
Power: Tons of torque and no need to ring the engine out to pass someone.
Technology: Awesome fob no key entry, hids, stereo, tire pressure monitoring system, DIC, oi change indicator, etc
Handling: Lots of grip everywhere, but haven't fully tested the handling yet
2 mode exhaust: purchased the mild to wild controller. With exhaust opens it sounds awesome. Lots of noise. With them closed it's quiet and great on the freeway. NO DRONE!
Ride: Have the magnetic control. In touring it's very compliant on so cal's crappy roads. In sport mode it tight with great road/tire control.
Parts: Parts aren't too expensive
MPG: Can get 29-30 MPG on the highway and mid 20's in town!
Trunk space. Since it's a hatch it has ample room in the back to go out of town, grocery shopping, etc.
Cabin space: I'm 6'1 and the extra room the vette has is great for me. The seats are extremely comfortable and adjust to just about any position.
Aftermarket: Lots of NA parts that actually give you some gains! lol
Insurance: Cheaper than the S2000.
Performance per dollar: Ran a Gallardo last month and pulled him pretty easily. The vette is completely stock.
Negatives:
Too fast? No really place to ring out the engine. The s2000 I can get on it and I'm not going to be going all that fast. In the vette your going 120+ before you know it.
Fit and Finish: It's a lot better than the previous than the C5's but I don't think it's on par with the S2000.
Steering feel is on par with the S2000 but the turning radius is much larger.
I say go check out a vette if you don't need 4 seats.
