I get bored with my S2000 all the time, which is part of the reason I've owned 5 of them. You get bored because it aged with few improvements and domestic shitboxes and some japanese rental cars are getting faster. I'ts loud, it's buzzy and full of mystery sounds, cramped, can't carry anything.

If it weren't for track days I couldn't stand the S. What's funny is the car I'd choose to replace it with is smaller, louder and even less practical ->Elise.

I say if you aren't happy with the S2000 - sell them and let someone else have fun.

If you're bored of it then get rid of it... But if you just dont want to daily drive it, get yourself a comfy DD. I just picked up an 01 insight for my commuting to work and it's a lot quieter on the highway than the S and gets a crap load more mpg (averaging 60+).

Living down on the border in Texas has really frustrated my S ownership. The roads are long, straight and poorly maintained. Every drive is at least 2 hours to get to the closest big city and 90 percent of the traffic is trucks and SUVs. I live in fear of the huge percentage of car crime and uninsured or illegal drivers. Basically this is S2000 hell. I am thankful that I live on base and at least park it somewhere safe every night, but I cannot wait to get away from here and get to somewhere to enjoy the car again.

Yup. That's why mine was purchased strictly for an occasional toy. Same with my motorcycle. If that's "all" I had to drive then the fun wouldn't last. Otherwise when I get behind the wheel of the "S" it provides the sufficient sporty experience I bought it for.I've had Vets,Trans Ams,and big block Chevelles over the years.None of which I would have enjoyed driving as my only mode of transporation. My "S" is primarily a polish rocket that gets runs spritedly and put away clean. I've actually had worse cars as a daily drivers than the S though in the past, but I can relate to your comments.

The S2000 is a great toy car. It's a poor DD. If it was my only car I'd have gotten sick of the lack of passenger/cargo volume long ago.

S is my DD and the fun has been lasting just fine. It's really a subjective matter.

Probably depends on where you're at in life. My wife and I, currently without kids have no problems with the trunk size. We can go do $300 costco runs and get it all in there.

I like the vette motor but I'm stick not driving a GM car.

I think OP you're bored of the S because you've gotten familiar with it. I regularly get rental cars for work and every time I get back in it's a joy to fire her up.

True. Where you are in life and also what kind of activities you enjoy.

After having owned a 4WD truck there is no going back to owning only a car. back country camping, hiking, beach driving, etc all made possible with 4WD

If I never left the city and never needed to haul things there would be no reason to have anything but the S2000.

What we found is when we need a truck, we rent one and it's a lot cheaper then owning one.

If you factor that each car costs approximately $6500/year to own, operate and depreciate you can rent $50/day 130 days/year and just break even.

So we keep one car and rent as needed. All the flexibility, no headaches and they even pick us up with the car.
