I must admit I thought this was a stupid post at first but then I though about it and I did take a oldman in 2000 911 non-turbo to school on a backroad and we also raced the 1/4 right after and he wasn`t that much infront of me I think he only beat be by like 2 or 3 cars
This will be my constant contribution to this thread. Your 'racing' a guy of questionable ability on country roads is of no use in comparing cars. Additonally - all cars have strengths and weaknesses - yes even exotics. The S2000 is a marvel on really tight roads - the miata even more so. Typical >S2000 > Miata as the roads open up. So take a circit like Road America and an exotic creams an S2000. Move over to Lime Rock park and it gets much closer.

2 -3 cars in a 1/4 is a whupping!

I've 'beaten' guys in vettes on country roads while driving a rental cavalier! Only means the guy in the vette was clueless - it's not even an indication of whether or not I have any talent. Certainly not that a Cavalier is superior to a C5.

There's a video off of this site where someone in an S2000 is racing 2 Modena's at a track. It looks like the track could be Mugello? The Modena's pulled away at that straights, but the S2000 caught them at every chicane.

The Porsche Turbo is quite a fast off the line ride where you have little sensory feeling that the engine has a turbo. The power comes on really quick, and the all wheel drive plants the car so well, that tail sliding and such is impossible.
Bullshit. Power on oversteer is very easy. The car will put 95 percent of the power to the rear under normal conditions. When it's cold out I can get the rear end to move around a bit while accelerating at WOT -- in 2nd gear.

The suspension is more kidney pounding than the S, and you can feel weight of the engine in the back.
Again bullshit. The suspension is softer than the S2000 under normal driving conditions.

There's a lot of bump steer with such wide tires and all wheel drive
Wrong. This is simply false. The turbo lacks any bumpsteer whatsoever. The S2000 however has a good bit built in.

The engine sounds more muscle car V8 than the electric 911 sound. I prefer the sound of the regular 911 engine.
WTF? A flat 6 sounds nothing like a V8.

My biggest memories of the Turbo's ride was the brute power, kidney pounding ride, hard to control on bumping road braking at red lights, and the overly sumptuous interior.
It is quite obvious you have never driven a 996 turbo. Why you choose to make all of this up is not clear.

WTF does that prove? I've run faster laps in my ITR than supercharged S2000's. I've also run down a 355 challenge car on the track. In both cases I am aware of the natural order of things, i.e. I was in the slower car.

i really did honestly tire of the z06 acceleration, felt kinda sick. why do you assume i'm in denial?
Because you are.

Wow, our $30k goes a long way man. People have to also take a look at the lastest BMI video showing NSX-R, driven by of course Gan-san, could run toe to toe with those high power Lamboginnis. They at least have 200hps more than the NSX-R. The light weight NSX-R out braked those Lambos lap after lap. Lambos finally passed the NSX-R with there sheer horsepowers in the later part of the race. BTW, the Modena was at least 5 to 8 seconds behind the little NSX-R.

So the S is has 50 hp less than the NSX-R and it was right behind the Modena on the track.

It seems reasonable. Light weight and nimbleness goes a long way on the track my friends

I think any perceived misstatement of facts is Steve's huge pet peeve. Though I'm sure you can cite examples, I've never seen any post of yours that wasn't just a jab at a comment someone else has made. What's the deal? Oh, and tact... I haven't seen much of that, either.

Oh, but he is right about one thing- The S is a great car... for it's price range. Don't confuse it with a supercar.

It was an '01 996 Turbo. My friend turned it in on its lease early. $2,000.00 a month for 10K miles got old and expensive after a while. I drove it several times, and was a passenger in it a few times a week. It used a lot of oil and went out of alignment very easily.

I don't know why you have to come off so rude if someone has a differing opinion, and you do lack tact as dcak has stated.
