A lot of cars on this site are ricey. Who honestly needs a cage in their daily driven s2k?
You mean the cusco monkey bars?

Demographics. The spectrum of Civics far exceeds the S.

The S is a rear wheel drive roadster, therefore making it a better foundation for legitimate modding. Majority of the aero mods are proven.

The Civic is front wheel drive econobox. Any "high performance" parts added on are assumed to be considered rice. The quality of parts available for a Civic varies drastically. From straight POS to quality parts.

The reasons are obvious.

A widebody kit with fully functional roll bar and racing seats in an S that is used soley for DD is the owners option. The fact is that if he chooses to track his car, it's a legitimate build.

Although an S is not at the top of the performance food chain.... the Civic (and all the many years it's been out) is definately towards the bottom.

I agree with you. A lot of ppl here don't consider certain kits or wings to be rice because some of them are designed to improve the aerodynamics. However a lot of ppl put them on their car because it looks nice even though they never track. If someone with a civic put the same wing on their car then everyone screams rice, but on an S2000 it's sick.

i gotta agree though. i like the classic simple design of the S. when people do all kinds of crazy things; it makes me sick. i dont care if it is functional or not - the point is you're driving this thing all over the road and maybe will put 200 trak miles on it a year. if its a track car - then it belongs on the track. if you're not autocrossing it, then leave all the garbage to the 16 year olds.

(btw, this is the reason i was considering getting the new CTS when they were first coming out. i wanted something classy as i like the "grown and sexy" look. glad i kept my S, but some of the things i see in the gallery make me sick. for some reason, some folks love anything thats NOT OEM)

I agree 100%. I really hate all these riced out S2000's. Really sucks to trash such a nice car.
They are just as ricey as most of those civics. Just cause it costs lots more money just makes it even more ridiculous.
Sure some kits might be shown to assist on the track. I bet 99% of people with those kits and all do not track them and even if they did would not notice a difference in performance.
Same thing with all the JDM stuff, thats really rice if you ask me.
Spend 10x what it should cost for no better performance than any other part.
Just buy it because it is JDM.
There are exceptions of course.

I am personally not a fan of super wild body kits, but a nice clean and simple lip kit looks prewtty nice if you ask me. With a lot of people the degree at which they draw the line from looks good and rice is in different places. I personally wouldnt call the spoon front end rice, although i would never put it on my car because it is way to aggressive for my taste. Everyones opinion differs some. I do admit when i see a "ruined" s2000 that somone made to look like crap with a distastefully body kit thats half falling off and just looks hideous in all apsects I do get a little sad on the inside.
