I DD my S2000, no problems here.

And you said you came from an RX8 before this, if you can deal with the maintenance and fuel on that car then this one will be a breeze

i daily mine (but i only have a 2 miles commute). we also have an 08 accord if we need a people/ stuff hauler. many shopping trips to the grocery store and costco without problems (we rarely use the accord for shopping trips, if that says anything). its just like legos/tetris organizing your stuff in the trunk. you can also use the passenger seat and if your top is up, the space behind the roll bars for more storage. even a couple trips to home depot were not a problem.

Its the perfect DD, super comfortable on long trips, the seats fit like they were made for me, I do wish the steering could move another 1" or 2" away from me but I have gotten used to it.

From what I drove the last 34 years, the S is luxurious and I can easily see it being the very last car I will own new. Said it here before, if I can drive a FIAT for 34 years, I can drive the S even longer.

Coming up on 20,000 miles, betcha I have much less than 500 with the top up, I would be surprised if I had more than 250 miles with the top up, top goes down for months at a time. Luckily I have covered parking at home and at work so I can drive top down and leave it down even on rainy days. The only issue is the door electronics for the windows up/down they don't like rainy days when they get soaked while driving.

Heater works great in 28degree weather with snow on the ground, I took it easy since I had summer tires, what a great car.

Storage and trunk space is great for a trip with the wife. If the kid goes along well then that is the wifey's car that gets driven.

I DD my S everyday, I put on about 200 miles/day(fix copiers) it's not a ideal vehicle for this type of work but it's all I have at the moment and it's not so bad

Tough answer. If you can deal with the poor visibility, limited cargo/passenger room, and top-up wind/road noise, sure, it's a great DD.

The car is more civilized than you'd think, but do NOT expect a smooth and quiet ride at highway speeds. And if you have the top up, visibility will be shit. The seats are extremely comfortable and supportive, and the factory stereo is definitely acceptable.

I suggest dedicated winter tires (Blizzak WS60) if you will drive all year. The car does very well with snow tires because of its phenomenal balance.

Sadly, I am selling/trading mine because I cannot get used to the car's freeway mannerisms. It is just too loud and harsh for me. My roommate has an RX8, and even with a loud exhaust I much prefer his car for trips >30 mins.

you can always adjust your mirrors to elimate your blind spots.

1.5" fisheyes and the blindspots are gone!!! i used mine as a DD for the first 2 years of ownership, until i had to get a truck or another job...awsome car. coming from vegas, when we get rain, there is NO GRIP at all!!

If you don't need to carry a ton of crap along everyday for work and don't mind a sports-car ride quality..go for it!

I'm new to the forum, but not new to the S2000. Some years ago I stupidly crashed my 02 S2000 on a damp B road (obligatory excuse: I was 21 at the time).

Having just sold the replacement (an RX8), I'm looking seriously at buying a nearly new s2000. I do a lot of commuting in my job, and was wondering if the newer cars are a realistic proposition for all-weather driving.
It's a realistic daily driver but you have to be realistic when driving in adverse weather or you'll stupidly crash it -- as you've already discovered.
