S2k tested in New Road & Track
The C6 is the pinnacle of turd polishing. They've done a great job polishing the turd nature of the core components of that car, but it's still a turd no matter how shiny it is. The new Z06 is a different story, and is what the C6 should have been in the first place. However, GM's pathetic QC is still evident in the Z06..

For those that drive at the limits often (9/10ths) there probably is a difference...However, for all the rest of the owners, the difference is not that great (at 7/10th).
My finishing order (because I want to and it's my opinion- deal with it):
9 (although I would say 20th if I could). Bmw Z4 3.0
8. Nissan 350z 35th Anniversary Edition
7. Boxster S
6. SLK 350
5. Dodge Viper SRT-10
4. S2000
3. Lotus Elise
2. Porsche Carrera S
1. C6 Vette

^ sounds like you haven't driven a new boxster S... it's a MUCH better car than the old one. It's the first boxster that I've liked better than my S2000. It's faster, it has wonderful steering feel, awesome brakes, etc. Feels solid (not nearly as plasticy, etc). Rides more comfortably, but just as well damped, huge amounts of grip...
The shifter is kind of suck, though. That's about the only complaint I could find... that and the fact that it costs double what the s2000 does!
Anyway, for an only car, it's definitely better than the elise. I bet it's not much slower around a track, either... (elise aerodynamics are a limitation)
