so your planning on having your parents pay for your car payments AFTER you graduate from college????

if you can't even afford to own the car in stock form....much less, pay for gas/insurance/maintenance....why are you going to spend money modifying it?
That's just shameful. College degree means you have the means to make money. College education was your best present from your parents. Lots of kids, even the smart ones don't have money to pay for college. They have to work and take night classes. They learn the value of money and how hard it is to earn it. And, they buy their own cars that they pay for and maintain it.

Quit watching Fast and Furious. It's not a good movie.

P.S. the army can give you money.

*bows to pappy*

i'd never want that much hp, but congrats to those who do; i hope you can handle the power.

young guy; i'm 20 and i just got my s2k and even now i wonder how i can afford to drive it. I just can't seem to believe you'll get one, have it paid for you, and then dangerously modify it. crazy. i sit and think half the time... " damn i drive [italics] that [/italics] !?" i hope you appreciate it if you actually do happen to have one given to you

...(well, helping my parents out with the payments) for graduation. ... I am looking to do some heavy mods to the car including a turbo w/ a built block and running high amounts of boost.
You want to do all that and you can't make the payments If money is no object, you might want to also consider a M-roadster as a base and supercharging it.

....or a lot higher depending on what root I go.
I'd stay in skool. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Have fun.

unfortuntley, the drivetrain is a weak link. There is no going around that. Fortunetly, there is a business down here in clearwater, fl, that is owned by a fellow s2k owner (jcarlton) who does cryo-treating from brake rotors to tranny's, etc. I got a 04 tranny completely cryo-treated, so his estimation is the metals are up too 200% stronger after. This is a must for a high output s2k. The other problem is the differential. I have the comptech reinforced brace for the ring and pinion and a kaaz differential. So far, I have had no problems at all, but I never launch the car, just a smooth roll out of first, then wot.

There is a company called diff-tronics, or something like that from australia, that has 1000hp axles, and a R33 skyline differential that complelety bolts up to the s2k. NO CUTTING or welding at all. Its a little pricey, but you basically NEVER have to worry about the drivetrain again. I would love to get that kit.

I had the new Dual BB GT35R bolted up, so now we are going to tune for race gas. I am expecting somewhere around 650 - 675 rwhp around 24-25 psi. That would be a realistic goal for me.

I personally would not go turbo/SC and put out too much power on an engine built specifically for NA...

If you want great handling, plus an engine block that's build for turbo.. consider the FD? I think that's a sexy looking car as well.. plus it's made for turbo and high RWHP if you put a single turbo on it

500hp has been done before. I could only imagine how much it would cost. The mustang will be much much cheaper.
