An unfortunate incident. I hope the legal issues get put to rest quickly so that the driver can try to get closure on the other issue.

Don't tell me it's the driver's fault, everyone who had an accident said the same thing: I am a good driver, that will never happen to me. Guess what, its not the driver. It's the car! honda should have never sold such a car with such a unstable suspension. the ratio of accident per car sold is the highest among all cars sold in the US, even higher than the Ford Explorer! In fact there are several lawsuit pending against Honda from accident victims.

The rear-end of the car is very loose. Mine slips out all the time. I just drive cautiously.

Yahweh. That was plain stupid. Reminds me of the S2k driver who killed his fiance-in-law.

Folks, I sure hope this isn't a news flash.

The S2000 is a HIGH performance sports car. It goes fast, it stops fast, it handles the road fast. It embodies racing technology -- chassis, engine, suspension and tires. It's rear wheel drive and when one tromps on the gas in wet or icy conditions, all hell can break loose. That's what happens with high performance rear wheel drive cars in the hands of inexperienced drivers and sometimes even experienced ones who screw up.

This accident is tragic but sadly predictable. Read the Hero posts in Street Encounters and you can quess this won't be the last bad accident due to immature judgement with a car that deserves a lot of respect and attention when driving it.

And, lastly... there's nothing wrong with this car that common sense and good driver's school can't fix.

Quess I wanted to vent but I'm really tired of folks blaming the car.

Mack,
This is terrible I drive this road all the time because it is the road to my girlfriends house. Even worse is that my girlfriend knows these people (not well but she went to high school in this area) This road is one of the worst... a good friend of hers basketball star etc.. went off the road and is paralyzed from the waist down.. Another person that went to her high school was killed just last year.. same road

I'm sorry but I also have to agree with anyone that says this car is too much for anyone who is still a teenager. I think this car is too much for me at times. I am only twenty three years old and have only recently begun to drive more responsibly (I save the speed for the back roads...) I'm definately not saying that it cannot happen to older drivers but it is statistically less likely (look up the info in the DOT website... i think it is there). Trust me this is how insurance companies determine how to charge premiums. I am very glad that when i was16-21 years old that I did not have a real sportscar because i probably would have wrecked. There are situations that I can recall where I was driving and probably should not have made it home to my parents becuase of some of the stupid sh*& that I pulled on the road. While i'm no saint behind the wheel I get in fewer pissing contests with other drivers now that I'm older and take many less chances (I dont even think about driving the car in the rain)

KYS i have to agree with you that there are many factors that contribute to accidents but age is definately one of the more influential factors. I'm happy to hear that you have had a fairly clean driving record. But I will admit if i was 17-18 again and in this drivers position yeah i would have punched it and passed these people.... Now i wouldn't have even considered it... especially in the rain.

For the past two years I have been working as a tissue recovery technician for tennessee donor services and have seen the result of many terrible accidents. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of accident vicitms that I have seen in the morgue have been young adults 16-28 years of age sometimes mangled beyond recognition. When I look at and review their chart I often get clued in on the circumstances surrounding the accident (often an account of very poor judgement.) On the contrary, I see very few adults over 30 (compared to the 17-18year old's) involved in these types of accidents. Either in the chart or in the news the next day I hear what kind of vehicles these younger drivers are in. No suprise here, most are in rear wheel drive sports cars or motorcycles.

Like Rick said though, I too have seen Shi&@y drivers of all ages hope everyone out there is trying to be safe. I hope that everyone learns from this tragedy. I for one am going to try to be much more careful at this years dragon run.
