Greg,

Do you hear any rasping noise when braking? The Spoon are notoriously loud.

BTW, me too, I'm curious to know if the holes are cast or drilled.
Yes, these are quite loud...and you can hear the clicking as the brakes are applied, especially while driving next to a wall...cool, but it sorta freaked me out at first!

Yeah, they're fiber reinforced ceramic composites. Not your typical pottery clay.

"I have tested these rotors with an infrared thermometer in many different conditions all the way to "glowing red", and could never find a consistent temperature difference between them. ... and by the way, spoon uses them on their racing cars."

This may be so, but this may have more to do with both rotors eventually reaching a maximum temp (plateauing out). I'm sure that if you were to take a car with Spoon rotors out for a few quick spins (5-10 minutes, where you can measure heat build-up from cold to hot), you would see that one rotor would be noticeably hotter. Trust me, when I say, that the venting in most rotors is there for heat dissipation as well as strengthing. If you look at most high end vehicles, you will notice that any venting, slotting, or drill patterns are always directional for the purposes of equal heat dissipation.

I'm sure Spoon uses them on there cars, because they can afford to simply throw them away after an event (well maybe every other event). I as a consumer, unfortunately cannot afford to obtain new rotors as often.

Are the rotors the problem, or is it the calipers and pads. The pads are very small compared to other cars, like the 911. Are there other options to improve the braking?
