Seeking Stereo Input..........please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am possibly purchasing some aftermarket stereo equipment tomorrow and would like some input on what you guys think of the equipment and what kind of deal I am getting. I have been doing a lot of research and have decided on Diamond Audio S600 speakers. The amp that the place I am getting this done recommends is the 4 Channel Eclipse Amplifier (4 Channel because I will be eventually installing a sub). The guy told me he would do it for $750(I am hoping to grind him down to 700). This would include the speakers, amplifier, adapter to connect the stock cd player(as there are no pre-outs on the stock deck), and installation. I have done some research on the internet and found the speakers for 340 and the amp for 320. It seems to me that this is a pretty good deal for some high quality stereo equipment considering I will not have to pay for shipping and installation as I would for internet equipment, not to mention Diamond Audio does not honor their warranty on internet purchased equipment. I would appreciate any input from you guys i.e. Is this a good deal? Are Diamon Audio S600 speakers good? Is an Eclipse 4 Channel amp good? etc. Thanks a lot for all the input, anything is much appreciated.
It's been awhile since I bothered with the high end stereo stuff and I doubt, though my teenage kids hate me for this, that I will put a better stereo in my S. Not that it is a bad idea but I am having too much fun just listening to the Revs....
Anyways. My one, big recommendation. Dump the stock unit. High level inputs to even the best speakers still sound only OK. If you want crisp, clean sound you need low level inputs to a decent amp. Failing that at least consider getting a really good cross-over unit (~$150) for better tweaking than the amp can do.
