start with this and modify to ur driving style, personally i sometimes shift at lower points to economize on fuel, i'll shift at 2500 rpm, so in the next gear the rpm drops to 2k and speed up until rpm reach 2500 and shift again and so on.
Do you really think that saves gas? Have you tested to confirm? I'd be interested to see what real life savings you've seen.

I haven't gone through enough tanks of gas, but it seems that if you shifted that low, you'd just bog and get medium to bad gas mileage, but not great.

Another question, is it better to down shift before the turn or after the turn?
Before.

In AP2, 3rd before turns if you're going easy, 2nd for more acceleration or if it's a slower turn. Should be similar for AP1.

BTW, AP1 is 2000-2003, AP2 is 2004+. The gearing is different.

Never put 87 in the tank! (just wanted to hammer that point)

I shift based on mood. Pay a lot of bills and taxes, I get sad and shift early 3k. If its Friday at 5pm and a weekend of great weather ahead and great music on the radio...7k every gear!

You'll enjoy the car and start shifting on feel...there is no right and wrong unless you follow the above suggestion on fuel effecient shift points...then why would you buy such a spirited sports car if fuel is of concern?

You'll love the car!

I think ultra high performance summer tires still work relatively well in the rain, sometimes even more so than all-seasons, which generally perform only decently in all conditions. Low temperature is what turns high performance tires into ice skates.

What does everyone do for warm-up? My friend's AP1 has a pronounced and high-pitched air pump sound that shuts off after about a minute. I don't hear that on my AP2. I find that my shifter is knotchy when cold and buttery smooth when warm.
