Default Should the engine block # match your VIN.

Ok people! I was staring at my engine. Took a close look at my engine block number. The question is, are the last four digits of the block # suppose to match the last four digits of the vin #. Mine does not It is close but the last number is different. Did Honda make a factory error? Just curious!

Did you buy your car used? The numbers should all match: engine, trans, fenders, hood etc.

Brand new. 60 miles on it when bought. All the vins match on the car. But the stamped vin on the engine block the "f20*******" number stamped on the block is differnet. For examle if my last four vin numbers where 1234 stamped in metal on the block it is
f20*****1238. The last digit is slightly of. These are not my real vin numbers but for example purpose only.

Hmmmm... All the VIN's should match. And why so many, 60 miles , on a new S2000?

60 miles...well i am sure it had a few test drives. Around here unless you order or find it right off the truck they have some miles on them. I had a choice of silver, blue, red at one dealer all had over 40 miles on them. I wanted black only two in the state both had about 60 miles on them. i am not super anal and sixty miles was ok with me. But please someone go outside or in the garage and check the block stamp to see if the last four digits are the same as the last four on your vin!

All should match, if the block number is higher than the vin, it may be a situation where honda replaced the engine for one reason or another. I doubt it takes any value from the car as long as you have the paperwork to show it was purchased new at a honda dealer. I'm no expert, this is just the first thought that came to mind when I read the post.

I don't know, my 2000 doesn't match (the engine number being a couple numbers higher). I've seen several others that are the same way.
