C'mon, an LS1 in an S2000 isn't that outrageous. Miatas, RX7s, 240SX's, etc. have been doing it for quite awhile. Why not an S2000?

Wow, do Corvette's really have leaf springs? I didn't know that. I don't think the S2000 should have a Corvette engine, it really doesn't go with the character of the car IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love Corvettes, currently own a 65', 97', 00' C5R and a C6 (in 1:18 scale ) but to me it would just seem out of place. Kinda like putting a Corvette engine in a WRX.

Why do you all hate American cars? I love them.......I love anything that is fast. Also they aren't as unreliable as most people say. They are definitely not as refined and minor stuff breaks but I've never nor have I seen any of my friends with American cars, have major engine problems. Also when you make more power you are going to be less reliable. Thats just the name of the game.......The Z06 Corvette and Viper ACR are both very reliable for the performance they yield.......even the Camaro and the Trans Am aren't bad in reliability. I used to own a Camaro so this is coming from 1st hand experience.

I can't believe discussions like this go on so often ...

If Honda had put a 360bhp V8 in it, people would still want more

If people aren't happy with what the engine produces why don't they just buy a car that makes them happy

Because there aren't that many choices for a great sports car under $40,000. The S2000 was the best I could do with my budget.

Also, I don't think that C6 customers are going to be complaining about the lack of hp any time soon. There is a median where people are satisfied and it has been recognized that the S2000 typically falls under that line with MOST people. Not to say that the car needs 400 hp, but some REAL torque would be nice. I drove a G35 and the low end feels like a monster with that torquey V6 3.5. I believe that an answer would be a Volvo engine. That I5 should do nicely.

First time I went to the track, I couldn't believe I was passing up cars that had way more hp(e46 m3's, cobras, evos, non zo6 corvettes, 3rd gen rx7's). Even more so towards the middle and the end of the day as I got used to the car and the track. Took them on turns and shot pass these high torque/hp cars on the straights. This car made me look good on the track even though I had no track experience whatsoever. I like my 240 hp just fine thanks.
