Si or AP1?

I own both. My 2002 S2000 is my fun car and my 2006 Si is my daily driver. I love them both. Both are fun to drive and either will put a smile on your face each time you drive it. I've been driving for just about 40 years and I've driven all kinds of cars and sportscars, and these two are the best I've ever owned.
All of that said, if I was in my late teens and I could own only one of the two, I'd opt for the Si. First and foremost, the Si is a much more forgiving car. You are much less likely to get into a situation that you can't handle in it. The S2000, on the other hand requires some skill and experience that, no doubt, you will develop over time, but you might not have just yet. It is very easy to get into trouble with an S2000.
Secondly, the Si is a more practical car. It has a bigger trunk, a hard top and four seats. Remember, if this is your only car it has to serve more than one purpose. I think that if I could only own one car I'd choose the Si for just this reason.
Third, you will probably find the Si is less expensive to own. Tires don't wear quite so fast and the insurance rates are cheaper. In addition, you will probably get better fuel economy from the Si.
Again, both cars are a lot of fun to drive and own, both will put a smile on your face and both are great cars. I think, for the reasons stated above that you should probably buy the Si.

go w/ the si. you are only 17, i think you should learn on something a bit more stable as mentioned above. i'm 19 and just recently got my s2000, coming from an rsx type-s and man oh man. im glad i didnt have this thing in high school. im sure you think you are responsible enough and think you will drive it properly, etc, but you wont ( i know i dont know you, but this is usually a teens mentallity). IMO, go w/ the si. you can always upgrade after 2-3 years

It all depends on the 17 year old. If money isn't an issue, and you firmly believe you can handle this sort of responsibility, I'd say get the s2k. When I was in highschool I had a b5 a4 that I just sold recently. And I know I gave insane amounts of rides to my friends, and my interior suffered because of that. So having a two seater is definitely a plus from that stand point.
Just my opinion; it's all about whether or not you think you can control yourself in a car like this. But, if you have any doubts... the si is a fun car too. :]
