Default Snow Stories

So winter will be here soon for some people. My S2K is seeing its first winter ever and I'm kind of worried. I'm wanting to hear some snow stories from everyone and anyone involving their S.

How do they do in the snow?
I'll have Blizak's and a hard top with stock ride height...how am I going to do?
Does anyone have a ski rack? That would be sweet!

Sorry if the thought of snow makes anyone sad.

I don't have a hardtop, but I'm pretty much ready for the winter time. Blizzak's on order and Porsche softtop treatment also on its way. My ITR drove like a champ on Nokians in DEEP snow. Although it was FWD, the traction was still superb. I think the heavier S2k won't have too much problems with traction, even though it is RWD. Just don't punch the throttle and use common sense. The only bad part is, I won't be able to fold down the rear seats to fit my ski's in, like I could in the ITR.

Drive reasonably, and the car will do the job. Blizzaks make the difference. I need to order a set, too, as mine are pretty well shot (rears, of course) after three winters.

I wouldn't worry about weighing down the trunk, but you can if you like. I just went to a snowboard movie over the weekend, and I'm already getting pumped for the season. Just need to get a ski pass.

I'm a skiing addict so hopefully my car will be cool. I love watching the warren miller ski/board movies to get pumped!!!

I have other cars to drive if it's real bad weather but I'm thinking more about the times when I may go somewhere and then the bad weather comes, unexpectedly.

Yeah, I don't know how the Ski rack will fit onto the hardtop. Weather up in the resorts are pretty unpredictable, so I really wouldn't take the S up to the slopes. 4x4's even have a hard time, sometimes. Luckily, my friends all have trucks/SUV's, so I just usually go up with them.

Miller's good--McConkie is CRAZY! Misty flip off of a 100 ft cliff!

In Calgary, there are quite a few of us who have been daily driving the S in winter for some years now. We had a "snow drags" and "Hollywood 180" day some years back. This is the best way to learn how the S works in such conditions. Here is our thread that was put up with vids for you to see:

Once you get good at it and it becomes instinctive, driving in slippery conditions can be more fun than driving it in the summer under so called "ideal" conditions. At least for me, I have more fun in winter than I do in summer with this car.
