Hi all,
I emailed Scott because I am having some big problems with the dash control unit I just received, but haven't received a reply and I think he may be away on vacation. My car is in pieces I have installed and wired the new controller correctly, and replaced the pins as required by the instructions. Might I point out that the plug diagram was confusing at first, as the instructions have the diagram drawn with the wires going into the back of the plug..........it looks like the front! Easy fixed, I just referred to the wire colors and switched them around. BTW, I have the CDMX600 head unit.
I got through step 1 and 3 ok and the unit behaved as the instructions said it would. This is when the problems started.
In step 4, it says to hold in the 'Mode' button on the S2K, then then press the Ready button. It then says the ready light will go out, and then let go of the mode button when it has done so. Well, I did this and the program light came on for a second, then the ready light stayed on constantly. It would not go out, contrary to the instructions.
Not sure what is meant by the 'push' and hold' functions. I know what the physically do, but how do these relate to the programming and 'Func#' menu?
After you do step 5, does the unit reset back to '0' again in order that you can do step 7, or do you keep on counting.
When supposedly finished, i pushed the program button in Step 10 and the lights flashed intermittently.........but they didn't turn off after 10-15 seconds. They kept flashing. Also, in Step 9, it talks about a 'Step 13'.......but there is no Step 13??????????
In the 'CH button on the S2K, what does this correspond to in the 'Func' menu? And, how can you use functions such as 'power off', 'preset up/disc up' etc
And, does '0' count as one press? Does the red light flash a little longer than the other flashes to show you it is '0'?
This is really, really confusing! Has anybody else experienced these problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
PS. Mute button is the only thing that works perfectly at the moment, but the controller is activating some functions although they are out of sequence with their intended functions.

I don't know.........Scott said he tested them all so I hope it's just something stupid I am doingwith the programming of the unit.
Either way, it would be great to receive a response from him so I can establish exactly what it is that is going on!!!!
Scott, are you about?

Make sure to start out properly. You must be holding down the program button when you turn the ignition to the accessory position (I) If you turn it to the On position (II), it won't work properly. Or if you don't even hold down the program button when turning the key, it also won't work properly.

AusS2000.......yes, I did the 'tap' method, as I had a harness that I bought for the Sony originally that I use to plug into the OEM plug so I don't have to cut the OEM loom.
Thanks David........I have done that and as mentioned, I do get through the first stage (until just after programming Mute Mode ) perfectly fine. It's where in the instructions it says to hold down the S2K Mode button and then press the ready buttin. It then says to continue to hold the mode button until the ready light goes out. I've done this and the ready light NEVER goes out. It stays on continuously.
I'm beginning to think that there may be a problem with the instructions, as there are some inconsistencies there.......such as the 'Step 13' which doesn't even exist, and the zip ties that were never included!
Still, if we could get a response from Scott, that would be the best option I guess.
By the way David and AusS2000.....did your units function/program perfectly?

I'm almost positive that Scott is vacation right now. I'm sure he'll be back soon though. He did go through a couple runs of instructions though. There is no issue with the "Step 13" problem because he consolidated a couple steps into one before the final instructions and forgot to change that part. It should say "skip to step 10 when done"
BTW, push and hold functions means that there is two functions to each button. One is when you push the button and let go immediately, the second function is when you push and hold the button for a second or so and then let go. When programming, you hold the Mode button, then press the ready button while still holding it. The light should go out. Then you enter in the push function first by pressing the ready button the number of times listed in the function table (waiting for the light to go out between each time). Next you do the same thing to enter the hold function, then you move onto the next button which is CH.
I don't have any problems with programming my DCU at all. It took some self control at first to not skip steps or parts in the instructions, but I eventually got myself to program it the way it was intended.
